Like many businesses in Washington state, Seattle’s Fremont Brewing Company has had to adapt to the changing rules associated with accommodation. As one of a select group of food and beverage businesses, Fremont has had to evolve from an accommodating taproom and beer garden, to a business only available for takeout, to now one that also offers delivery throughout most of Seattle.

Along the way, the brewery has maintained awareness not only of its employees concerns but also of the many bars, restaurants, and other “essential” businesses which are struggling to stay open during this trying period. As a demonstration of Fremont’s awareness of their own employees and others, the brewery is happy to announce the Heron Rising Initiative.

“We started the brewery amidst the last financial crisis, in 2009, which means that adapting and being resourceful come naturally to us,” notes Matt Lincecum, owner and founder. “It’s also helped us to stay focused on what matters, which is taking care of our employees, beer drinkers and community as we navigate a drastically different craft beer landscape.”

Starting the week of April 15th thru May 31st, Fremont Brewing Company is joining a growing list of local organizations and businesses, providing contributions to #ThePlateFund

A local non-profit organization, #ThePlateFund helps restaurant workers in King County impacted by the effects of COVID-19 and the states ‘stay at home’ policy. In cooperation with this non-profit, Fremont Brewing Company will donate 1% of gross profits from the sale of their “Golden Pilsner”, “Space Danger!”, and Summer Ale (released in May), sold in Washington state.

Besides supporting #ThePlateFund, Fremont Brewing Company’s Heron Rising Initiative supports healthcare workers by donating meals from locally owned restaurants, purchased by the brewery. Plus, with your food donations, dropped off at the brewery’s retail (takeout) location, the Heron Rising Initiative can support the less fortunate at the Ballard Food Bank.

Those interested in supporting Fremont Brewing’s Heron Rising Initiative can do it in person, by purchasing kegs, cans, and bottles or dropping off food at their Urban Beer Garden. Or you can support the brewery by requesting delivery at https://www.fremontbeertogo.com/.

Fremont Brewing Company’s Urban Beer Garden is located at 1050 North 34th Street in Seattle’s historic Fremont neighborhood.

About #ThePlateFund:

#ThePlateFund is an initiative to provide emergency financial assistance to King County restaurant and food-service workers who have lost jobs and income due to business disruptions caused by the COVID19 pandemic. The fund, created by the Schultz Family Foundation in partnership with #allinseattle, Seattle Foundation and UpTogether, has raised more than $6 million to provide at least 12,000 King County restaurant workers with immediate one-time $500 payments. To date, 7,600 total applications have been received, 5,232 applications have been successfully processed, and $2.6 million has been paid directly to affected workers. Additional payments will be processed as applications are received on a first come, first served basis. Members of the community are encouraged to help the fund reach more workers by donating at www.theplatefund.com. Donations are tax deductible, and one hundred percent of all contributions will go directly to workers.
