Out of caution for the Cornonavirus, Victoria Beer Week cancels three weekend events.

Press Release

In response to yesterday’s announcement from the BC Ministry of Health in regards to the growing Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, which included a directive to cancel any public events involving more than 250 people, the Victoria Beer Society has made the decision to cancel three events as part of Victoria Beer Week:

• Lager Than Life - Friday, March 13

• Street Eats Brewery Tour - Saturday, March 14

• Saturday Night Casks - Saturday March 14

Lager Than Life and Saturday Night Casks were cancelled on Thursday afternoon immediately following the provincial announcement because they each had more than 250 tickets sold. Although the Street Eats Brewery Tour involves only about 50 people, the decision was made today to cancel it to help minimize the impacts of this outbreak within our community since it would be too difficult to maintain distance on a bus tour.

Ticketholders to all of the cancelled events can expect a full refund from Ticket Rocket.

This announcement comes with great sadness for our team, staff and volunteers, who have been working hard to bring this series of craft beer events to Victoria, but public health and safety is our top priority. In accordance with this new information, we must do our part to minimize the risk to our attendees, volunteers, staff and the participating breweries, vendors, and sponsors.

Two remaining events will take place on Saturday, March 14, as neither involves a large group confined in a small space:

• Brewmasters Brunch at Swans Brewery, Pub and Hotel at 11:00am (tickets still available)

• Beer School: Party Like It’s 999 at the Argyle Attic at 3:00pm (sold out)
