Its name is Goodbye 2020, and it's an IPA with a purpose, brewed by five local breweries including Lake City's Hellbent Brewing Company.
Several weeks ago, Hellbent Brewing co-owner and head brewer, Brian Young, came up with a novel idea to support local business. That idea, brew a beer and sell it for a relatively low cost to businesses. As a side-effect of a lower cost, these businesses would then make more per pint and takeaway, resulting in a little more in their wallets. Apparently, Brian wasn’t the only one interested in helping out their fellow food and beverage businesses.
After discussing this idea with several breweries, he recruited brewers from as far North as Everett, as far south as White Center, as Far East as Redmond and a few neighborhoods away.

The result is a beer, brewed by Everett’s Lazy Boy Brewing, Redmond’s Postdoc Brewing, White Center’s Future Primitive Brewing, and Seattle’s Hellbent Brewing Company and Burke-Gilman Brewing. Recalling what went into this beer, Hellbent Brewing Company shared this.
To finish off this Dumpster Fire of the year 2020, we decided to go out in style, and have our friends from Burke-Gilman Brewing, Future Primitive , Lazy Boy, and Postdoc help us out with this collaboration IPA. In true 2020 fashion, some brewers attended in person, and some via computer, but we were all dedicated to making a great IPA to help out local bars, restaurants, and breweries that have been hit hard by the pandemic shutdowns.
Brewed by five unique breweries, each with their own approach to an India Pale Ale, Goodbye 2020 IPA (as it’s been named) takes advantage of hops Simcoe, Citra, Ekuanot, Mosaic, Citra, and Chinook. The result is a beer that has been described as having notes of “... bright citrus rind, blueberries, and pine seamlessly; bitter, but balanced.”
A fitting name, Goodbye 2020 IPA is born and now nearly a week since they birthed it upon the world, it’s another beer that needs your help.
