If there is one thing this global pandemic has taught us, it’s that takeout is the new normal. Whether it’s a slice, an order of wings, or a whole pie, we have all adjusted to the idea that our food is “to-go”. But included in this mobile, gastro-adventure are usually a few beers in 12, 16, 32 or 64 ounces. Keeping up with this new “normal”, Portland’s Ecliptic Brewing has announced yet another beer available in an easy-carrying size - Capella Porter.

Originally released in 500mL bottles (aka, half-liters), Capella Porter is an award-winning Porter, loved by visitors and fans alike of Ecliptic Brewing.

For owner John Harris, the decision to can their Capella didn’t take much convincing.

“Cans are taking off. They have been for a while now. We’ve seen our customers gravitate towards this package, so we want to give them what they’re looking for- something lighter and a bit more portable. A canned porter is also something we’ve been wanting to try, so this was an exciting transition for us to make.”

With notes of chocolate and caramel, and a hint of roastiness welcome you as you enjoy the aromas and bitterness, courtesy the American hops. At 5.2% abv (alcohol by volume) and 29 ibu (International Bittering Units), this beer will warm your thoughts as you relax with a Summer sunset, a campfire in the mountains, or while sleeping under the stars.

Overstating its status as the most-award-winning beer at the brewery, including medals at the World Beer Cup and the Oregon Beer Awards, this marks the fourth release in the 16-ounce format. If you’ve enjoyed their Special Release Series, their Cosmic Collaboration Series, or their Vega IPA Series, then a can of Capella will fit right in.

Look for Capella Porter to be released in the coming weeks at both Ecliptic Brewery’s taproom, as well as everywhere you find Ecliptic Brewing beers. For those looking for a takeaway version, in a larger format, the brewery will continue selling copious amounts of Capella on draft throughout the region.
