Joining with Weathered Souls Brewing's "Black is Beautiful" campaign for equality, Ferment Brewing releases "Black is Beautiful" this Friday.

Like so many breweries who are brewing in solidarity with Weathered Souls Brewing, Hood River’s Ferment Brewing has announced the upcoming release of Black is Beautiful Imperial Coffee Stout.
With some 1000+ breweries, from over 20 countries, Black is Beautiful drives awareness to police brutality reform, provides legal defenses for those who have been wronged; with the long-term goal of moving towards equality for all. For Ferment’s Dan Peterson, brewing a beer like this was needed.
“In this important time in history, it is our responsibility to stand up for equality, be actively anti-racist and help to continue this movement until true change is made. We are grateful to be able to express our love and support for the Black Lives Matter cause through this beer.”
Started in San Antonio, Texas, by brewery Weathered Souls and co-founded Marcus Bakserville; Black is Beautiful hopes to drive awareness to inequality against those of color. Starting out as a challenge, using an Imperial Stout recipe Weathered Souls shared, Marcus asked breweries to put their own twist while donating 100% of proceeds from the beer to causes.
Keeping their promise, Ferment Brewing has committed themselves to donating 100% of proceeds from Black is Beautiful to the Urban League of Portland, who support African American and others acquire “equality in education, employment, health, economic security and quality of life.”
Available this Friday, at Ferment Brewing’s taproom, the staff and ownership remind all they are takeout-only because of COVID-19 protocols. Those who cannot make it to Hood River, can look for Ferment’s Black is Beautiful Imperial Stout at nearby bottle shops in Portland.
