Press Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - February 23, 2022 - Von Ebert Brewing, winner of the 2021 Oregon Beer Awards’ Medium Size Brewery of the Year, on Saturday will release two new Heritage Beers, both with award-winning stories.

Recent Yesterdays won the Bronze Medal in the Fruit Beers category at the 2021 North American Beer Awards in August. After aging a bit longer, the brewery is now releasing the beer in bottles publicly for the first time. The 6.2% ABV beer is a blend of puncheon-aged and foudre-fermented Heritage beers, further conditioned on whole Montmorency cherries from Evans Fruit Company in Mosier, OR.

Von Ebert will also release the second batch of Alma, a 6.2% ABV blend of oak-aged mixed culture beers aged on a mix of peach varietals handpicked by its namesake, Alma Gaeta from Peachwood Orchard in Hood River, OR.

The first batch of Alma was recognized by Craft Beer & Brewing in 2020 as one of its Top 20 Beers of the Year. But don’t expect the exact same flavors produced by the first batch of Alma this time around.

“As we start to re-create some of our previously released Heritage Beers, we’re not looking for batch to batch consistency, and instead aiming for beers that are consistently more delicious,” explained Jason Hansen, lead brewer, Von Ebert Glendoveer. “Due to the natural discrepancies in these types of beers, like annual differences in fruit and different blends of base beers, there will always be slight variations. And the beers themselves are alive and constantly evolving in the bottle as well.”

Recent Yesterdays and Alma will both be available on Saturday at the Von Ebert Glendoveer and Pearl brewpubs.
