Mostly through the first month in January and yet breweries like Seattle are still surprising us here and here. Still not satisfied, the brewery has announced a complete overhaul of what you know as Fremont Brewing’s “look”. But the brewery isn’t stopping there.

Year-Round Series pivots in 2021

Announced shortly into 2021, Fremont Brewing Company has announced their plans for 2021, starting with an update to their “year-round series”, starting with the addition of Disco Wolf Hazy Double India Pale

Described by the brewery, Disco Wolf is.

… a hazy double IPA brewed to be dangerously approachable with a moderately bitter bite. Boogie fever, it's going around.

Brewed with “2-Row Pale, Malted Oats, White Wheat, and Dextrose with Strata, Sabro, Idaho-7 Cryo, and Citra Cryo hops”, the result is a beer that 8.5% ABV (alcohol by volume) and 78 IBU (international bittering units). Or to put it another way, Disco Wolf is a Hazy Double IPA with tropical notes of pineapple, guava, papaya, some citrus and berry notes, and a hint of pine.

Unfortunately, Disco Wolf, while a welcome addition has resulted in the Universale, one of the OG Pale Ales at the brewery, to be delisted. Will Universale come back? Who knows?

Look for Disco Wolf Hazy Double India Pale Ale to join Interurban India Pale Ale, Lush IPA, Sky Kraken, Dark Star Imperial Oatmeal Stout, Nitro Dark Star Imperial Oatmeal Stout, and Golden Pilsner the brewery’s Year-Round series.

Introducing the Rotating IPA Series

Up next, the brewery has re-branded their Seasonal Series with the focus on India Pale Ale. New in 2021, the Rotating IPA Series.

Starting in January and onward into April, Fremont Brewing Company releases Space Danger! India Pale Ale.

Released in 2020, Space Danger! is currently described as having notes of coconut, peach, citrus, and black pepper. Benefitting from the use of Simcoe, Sabro, and Centennial hops, Space Danger! Is a 7.0% ABV sipper and lands at 61 IBU.

After Space Danger!, the brewery has plans to release two (unnamed and inconclusive) Hazy India Pale Ales starting May thru August and September thru December.

For those who followed this series, when it was known as the Seasonal Series, the brewery (on paper) has confirmed they won’t be bringing Mod Pod back. But like all things during this pandemic, nothing is off the table and always subject to change.

Also of note, Fremont Brewing Company won’t have an Imperial Series. However, if it's anything like last year's Winter Ale release, there will be brewery-exclusive releases in four-packs as part of their Brewer’s Reserve. This, for now, means no more Sister Imperial India Pale Ale, Brother Imperial India Pale Ale, with Winter Ale (hopefully making) a Brewer’s Reserve callback.

Expanded in 2021, the brewery’s Barrel-aged Series.

Like so many breweries, who not only ship beer to bars and stores around the region, Fremont Brewing Company also operates a taproom. Due in part to the pandemic, Fremont Brewing Company’s taproom, aka the Urban Beer Garden, has been forced to pivot in adherence with local health department regulations. This has led to reduced capacity seating, reduced sales at the Urban Beer Garden, and also a reduction in sales from near food and beverage partners.

But unlike so many breweries, Fremont Brewing Company’s barrel-aging program has continued to grow into one of the more mature barrel houses in the state. Which of course means more Bourbon Dark Star, B-Bomb, The Rusty Nail, and of course all the B-Bomb and B-Bads variants. With an eye to 2020, the brewery has formally announced its commitment to releasing all the above and an Anniversary Stout.

Just like last year, the brewery plans to release the following each month.

  • B-Bomb Variant - January 2021

  • BBads Variant - February 2021

  • The Rusty Nail - June 2021

  • Anniversary Stout - August 2021

  • Bourbon Dark Star (BBADS) - November 2021

  • BBads Variant - December  2021

  • B-Bomb - December 2021

This expanded transparency is no doubt welcome.

Back in 2021, Fremont Brewing’s Head Full of Dynomite series, continues its every six-week mission. Giving the brewery a chance to get their words in.

Around May, Fremont Brewing Company announces the seasonal availability of Summer American Pale Ale. Originally released in 2020 as part of their Seasonal Series, Summer returns from May thru August. Following Summer Ale, the brewers at Fremont set their sights on the harvest, as in hop harvest.

Made with hops, sometimes less than five hours old, Fremont’s Field to Ferment Fresh Hop Pale Ale and Cowiche Canyon Fresh Hop Ale are exhibitions on what makes fresh hop beers so unique. Released in mid-September (subject to varietal and availability), Field to Ferment awaits you with Cowiche Canyon, joining shortly after in late-September.

If this breakdown has you salivating for a Fremont Brewing ale or lager, you’re not alone! Set your sights on the remaining 11 months, for what should be a rewarding experience from Seattle’s Fremont Brewing Company.
