To paraphrase a cliche utterance, used during the 90s, if you brew it they will come. Or at least if you brew it, you will enjoy it.

That’s what co-owner and head brewer of Triceratops Brewing, Rob Horn, thought when he first realized his favorite amber lager wasn’t anywhere to be found in the region. So, naturally, he brewed the style of beer himself. Brewed out of inspiration for his and co-founder Kelly Horn’s love of the East Coast, the duo conceived of this unique beer to share with locals in and around Tumwater.

Starting with their roots, Rob Horn brewed a beer harkening back to days and nights spent in New Jersey, sipping amber and light lagers. Before long, a smile creeps across Rob’s face as he smells in the aromas of malts and hops, as the beer simmers away. Transferring to tanks and aging for weeks, the beer would eventually need a name.

It didn’t take long before the duo took states Pennsylvania and Kentucky, and formed them into a gladstone called Pennsyltucky. Inspired by a combination of two states, two minds, the beer has done well with the community at large. Winning several awards, including two bronze medals. Pennsyltucky is a 4.8% smooth sipper and a reflection of its shared namesake - Pennsylvania.

Or maybe it’s the beer’s ingredients of Caramunich and Vienna malts or Cluster hops. Whatever it is, the beer has notes of earthy bitterness and a slight bite, before being washed over with a wave of smooth, crispness; indicative of a lager. But what is definite is the limited availability.

While supplies last, Pennsyltucky is out on the market in retailers and also at the brewery. Available in 16-ounce four-packs, 32-ounce “crowlers” and 64-ounce growlers, you are invited to share a moment with Tricertatops’ Pennsyltucky.
