If there is one thing remarkable about the year 2020 it has been the lack of normalcy. Vacations abroad? Nope. Dinner with friends? Nope. Beer festivals? Nope. Halloween? Nope! Let’s not get started with Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Hanukkah, or Christmas. But there are a few silver linings which live on the edges of 2020, like Triceratops Brewing Company’s annual treat, Imperial Peanut Butter Milk Stout.

Brewed in homage of a certain serial killer’s mother, from Friday the 13th, Mrs. Vorhees is a brewery favorite and signals the upcoming conclusion of October. And like so many things inspired by memory, Mrs Vorhees inspires recollection at the brewery.

Friday the 13th’ is a Halloween classic,” says co-owner and head brewer Rob Horn. “As a kid I used to camp at the campground where it was filmed. So when I thought about brewing a beer for the month of October, I knew I had to work in a reference to the movie series, and I knew I had to go for that quintessential candy flavor combo, salty peanut butter and sweet milk chocolate.

Brewed with Pilsner malt from Skagit Valley Malting, Mrs. Vorhees like the character it references, it comforts you with its use of special malts like oats, chocolate malt, and roasted barley. With the addition of peanut butter and salted caramel, and you travel back to door-to-door adventures in the cool evening air. But like Mrs. Vorhees herself, this beer will sneak up and if not prepared, it will knock you with its 8.1% ABV.

Available at the brewery and abroad, in limited quantities, Mrs. Vorhees can be enjoyed in travel-friendly 16-ounce cans, or at the brewery in 32-ounce crowlers, and 64-ounce growlers at Triceratops Brewing Company’s taproom. In addition to take away beer, the brewery has a select number of Mrs. Vorhees shirts on hand for purchase.
