West Seattle institutions, The Beveridge Place Pub and The Beer Junction, temporary shutter.

Watching local news, one might find it remarkable the volume of coverage associated with the pandemic known as COVID-19. In between the press conferences, live via remote location journalism, has been the reporting on local business evolving how they engage with the public, in the wake of this health scare. Unfortunately, the city of Seattle has lost two more businesses who have chosen safety of their staff and others over income.

The Beer Junction

Until further notice we will be closed due to the Washington state closure of all non-essential businesses.

Once we have more information regarding a reopening date we will let everyone know.

Thank You! Stay Safe!

In the West Seattle neighborhood, along historic California Avenue lies one city’s more popular bottle shops and taverns - The Beer Junction. Started in 2010, the Beer Junction was the newest special beer shop, in the Seattle area. Started by Morgan Herzog, The Beer Junction remains a destination for neighbors and nearby locals in search of that hard to find bottle, can, or growler fill.

Unfortunately for The Beer Junction, the decision to close is the latest setback to a business which lost its owner and founder, Herzog, after losing his battle with a lung infection. Survived by his wife, Allison, and many family members, Morgan’s dream endured with every pull of the draft handle, every crown removed from a bottle, and every tab lifted on a can. As of this week, March 26th, The Beer Junction will remain closed until such time they can open safely.

Just down the street, slightly out of your way towards the Vashon Ferry, lies one of West Seattle’s oldest public houses - The Beveridge Place Pub. Co-owned by Gary Sink and Teri Griffith, the BPP (as it’s been nicknamed) features local beers (excluding macro-owned), wines, ciders, mead, and imported beers from Belgium and Germany. A supporter of the neighborhood for over 15 years, the Beveridge Place Pub has been an oasis for neighbors and brewers alike.

Like The Beer Junction, Beveridge Place has had to adapt to evolving mandates from the state and county managers. As an exclusive tavern with a modest list of pre-filled, packaged bottles, the BPP was first and foremost a sit-down tavern, with an option to take-home beers in 64-ounce/32-ounce growlers, or in variable-sized bottles and cans. Shifting gears, the ‘Pub recently offered (only) takeout of their beers in growlers or from a selection of bottled or canned beverages. Owing to the changing mandates at the state level, while taking into consideration the safety of their staff and customers, Beveridge Place Pub has closed.

Well folks, we've looked at this every which way, and decided the best thing to do for the safety of our staff and the community will be to temporarily close after business today, Tues, 3/25 (2-8pm). We appreciate the support you've provided over the past 8 days of limited service, and wish we could continue, but the risks are too great. We'll see you on the Beveranda soon! Cheers!

Both businesses are planning on reopening as soon as conditions improve. Till then, For those who wish to support either brands, you can do so by purchasing Gift Certificates at either The Beer Junction or at the Beveridge Place Pub
