Hailing from Oregon's boisterous coastline, Yachats Brewing is visiting Portland to host a one-of-a-kind pop-up featuring their beers. Hosted by Function PDX Function PDX starting this Thursday, Feburary 27th, and concluding March 8th; subject yourself in all things Yachats.

Starting with the interior, immerses you in rustic dress, before being treated to local (farm-to-table) eats and, naturally, Yachats-brewed beers. Plus, for the first time, the brewery’s Thor’s Well IPA is available outside of the taproom. Besides Thor’s Well, the brewery features a curated selection of mixed-culture bottled beers and cans.

Besides beers and food, lookout for Head Brewer Aaron Gillham and General Manager Jennifer Fredericksen for information on the beer, the taproom, and the company philosophy - from 4 pm to 6 pm on February 27th.

More on Yachats Brewing

Yachats Brewing was recently awarded Best Bar on the Oregon Coast for the second year in a row in the Readers’ Choice Awards of the Eugene-based publication The Register-Guard. It’s not difficult to see why, as their focus on environmental stewardship and sourcing locally has created a wonderful place to enjoy some time.

It would be an overstatement to say the brewery has a list that you’ll probably not going to miss, so without ado here’s the list.

ROTATING DRAFT LIST

  • Thor’s Well - A classic NW-style IPA made with Cascade, Chinook, Mandarina Bavaria, and Mt. Hood hops.

  • Perpetua Xtra Pale - An American Pale Ale that has a clean bitterness and refreshing malt profile. Cascade and Golding hops provide beautiful citrus notes, followed by a light malt character. Named after a forested headland that overlooks the Yachats coastline.

  • Marbled Murrelet - Dry Irish Stout brewed with an American Ale yeast. Roasty chocolatey coffee notes rounded out with a dry finish.

  • Camp One - This IPA is our nod to a popular style from yesteryear. Back in the day, IPAs in the Northwest used to be a little darker and maltier. Made with Cascade, Nugget, and Herkules hops.

  • Buckle - Wild Ale fermented with a wild yeast caught and cultivated for almost a decade by our brewer. The resulting beer isn’t sour, gives off an eclectic mix of American and Belgian style yeast aromas, and carries a slight characteristic of wildflowers.

  • MMM Peach Mint - Argue politics over this light-bodied IPA that’s dominated by big hop flavor and bitterness with mint powering its way to the front. Made with freshly picked mint and Summit, Warrior, Amarillo, and Citra hops.

  • Cream Abdul-Jabeer - A crisp Pale Ale with lactose and oats make up the base for this Cream Ale, which was blended with a touch of our 804 Pilsner to add to the clean body of the beer.

BOTTLES AND CANS

  • Salal Sour - Mixed-culture Saison highlights local, wildcrafted salal berries used by the indigenous people of Cascadia for generations. Salal Sour reveals a bright, tart, and earthy flavor.

  • Kriek - Mixed-culture Flanders-inspired Red Ale barrel-aged with whole Rainier cherries from Washington. Kriek is fermented in stainless steel, then re-fermented in barrels with fruit for several months.

  • Stonefield Flanders Style Red Ale - Brewed in early 2017 and aged quietly on the Oregon Coast in neutral wine barrels. This beer pours with a light tan head and begins with flavors of cherry, toasted barrel, and brettanomyces. As it warms, flavors of dried fruit and honey arise.

  • Barrel-Aged Bussmann Bog - Mixed-culture fruited sour fermented with 500lbs of fruit from Bussmann Cranberry Farm. We released half of this batch late last year, and aged the other half in barrels until now! Tropical fruit and carrel notes from the lactobacillus fermentation mingle with a crisp bite of cranberries.

  • SeeSee Lager - Easy-drinking American light Lager made with Hallertau, Mittelfruh, and Global hops.

Stop by Function PDX, this Thursday, at 919 NW 23rd Avenue, from 2 pm to 10 pm (on average) daily, until March 8th.

About Yachats Brewing

Yachats Brewing, founded by Nathan Bernard, began in 2012 as a farmstore within the coastal town of Yachats, Oregon, selling meat, produce, and other local goods. In 2015, a 7-barrel brewhouse was installed, and with it a strong focus on environmental stewardship: The brewhouse and delivery vehicles are all powered by biodiesel, a wind turbine generator reduces power grid energy consumption, Passive Solar and Thermal Mass design eliminate the need for a furnace or air conditioning, 100% of food waste gets composted, and spent grain is used as livestock feed. Today, the brewpub features a menu of items sourced within 100 miles, including 30 taps of beer, cider, wine, mead, and kombucha.
