Double Mountain Brewery and Cidery challenges to produce three, challenging, IPAs; starting with Ol' Greg.

Ol’ Greg is a reference to a sketch from The Mighty Boosh, if you haven’t seen it yet, watch it a few times. Its disturbing, hilarious, and often quoted round the brewery.

Continuing the trite run of introductions centered on (groan) resolutions, Double Mountain Brewery and Cidery challenged their brewers to do more.

In order to do more, the Head Brewer, Lead Brewer, and Barrel Manager were each tasked with experimenting not just with hops and malt but also yeast. The result is a series of India Pale Ales that challenge your perception of not only Double Mountain-brewed beers but also what is possible when one will leave the safe confines of a traditional India Pale Ale be it Hazy, Northwest-style, West Coast-style, English-style, or New England-style. Introducing the first in the series with Ol’ Greg.

With aromas of spiced fruit and black currant, Ol’ Greg is the first in a series of new beers both in ingredients and on what’s on the outside.

Brewed with English hops and yeast, Ol’ Greg is available in refillable 500ml bottles or on draft at both Double Mountain Taprooms or abroad. At  7% ABV (alcohol by volume) and a potent 80 IBU (international bittering units) this beer is summed up as “Big, bitter, and delicious” by Head Brewer, Greg Balch.

As a bonus, not only is Ol’ Greg refreshing, but the bottle is refillable as part of the https://www.bottledropcenters.com/buy-refillable-containers/ BottleDrop, refillable bottle program. In cooperation with breweries and wineries, your purchase and return (to a nearby bottle shop) will help reduce landfill and needless recycling.
