Hellbent Brewing Company releases a beer and holds a party for beloved brew dog, Steven.

If you are a fast-fan of tavern history, then you have no doubt heard stories ranging from chickens who beat humans at tic, tac, toe, to a gorilla with an artistic stroke. But have you heard of a beloved brewery dog, named Steven? If you are a regular visitor to Hellbent Brewing Company, you might have.

Arriving at his 10th year, on August 16th, Steven, a beloved Labrador Retriever, will celebrate his birthday with a special beer release, at Hellbent Brewing Company’s taproom.

Named “Steven’s Summer IPA”, this near sessionable take on India Pale Ales is one Steven could almost drink. At 5.5% ABV (alcohol by volume) and 25 IBU (international bittering units), the beer has loads of floral and fruity hop character. The marriage of hops Simcoe, Ekuanot, El Dorado, and Cascade; coupled with Pale, dextrin, and wheat malts; makes for a beer that isn’t just for the dogs. Then again, technically dogs should drink beer because of the toxicity of hops.

Already available before the party, “Steven’s Summer IPA” is one to pick up for backyard social distancing or after hiking a quiet trail in the nearby mountains.

Those interested in exclusive access to Steven’s birthday, are invited to purchase a ticket online for the outdoor event.

For $20 (+taxes & fees) you'll have a reserved spot in Steven's VIP beer garden, a package of DogSquad Donuts from The Seattle Barkery, a Steven sticker and limited edition wooden coaster, +4-pack of Steven's IPA. He'll be on-hand for photo ops and greetings, and the Barkery Treat Truck will have dog treats and swag for purchase. Please keep dogs on-leash while on Hellbent property and maintain appropriate physical distancing. Your reservation is good for an hour so if you want to stick around, see your bartender for table availability.

Those interested in purchasing tickets, should visit https://hbsteven.brownpapertickets.com/, as this is the only way to attend #bardogsquad VIP sessions.

About Hellbent Brewing Company

Hellbent started with three of us – Jack Guinn, Chris Giles and Randy Embernate – longtime friends and restaurant industry veterans. For us, starting Hellbent was the natural (and the coolest) thing to do, growing directly out of our experience and our love of beer. For years we home-brewed and toiled over our business plan. Then, we met Brian Young – award winning brewer, co-owner and fast friend – who turned out to be the missing link. Within a couple months, we were on the hunt for the perfect location.

We wanted our brewery in Lake City, where Chris and Jack already called home, to contribute to the growing beer scene here. When we stepped into the old CM Hopkins building for the first time, we knew we had found our venue. Starting right away, we gutted it and began the transformation, building with reclaimed wood, steel, good humor, and a fair amount of muscle.

Finally, after years of fierce determination and hard work (including seven months of construction), we opened our doors in the thick of microbrew country. We didn’t do this alone. We are humbled by the support and kindness of our friends and family that helped us along the way. So, to our beer-loving brothers and sisters of the Pacific Northwest, cheers and welcome to Hellbent!
