Owing to the governor’s stay at home order, Washington state has been navigating a swelling river of unemployment, as non-essential employees are asked to stay home. The result has been people failing to pay rent, failing to pay for medication, and most times where their next meal might come from. For food banks throughout Washington, support is frantically needed. In response, while adapting to their responsibilities as “essential workers”, Watershed Pub & Kitchen and Hellbent Brewing Company announced the re-release of their Gate City IPA.

Benefitting North Helpline in Lake City, Gate City IPA was developed to educate consumers on supporting local charities like North Helpline, summed by the charities motto:

“We believe that all deserve adequate food, housing, and respect. We assist our neighbors in obtaining basic needs that affirm their human dignity and worth.”

Owing it to those who need it most the the trio had this to say about Gate City IPA.

Watershed Pub & Kitchen, North Helpline, and Hellbent Brewing all came together again to create a beer that supports our neighborhood--the Northgate and Lake City communities (hence “GateCity IPA”).  We believe even more strongly than ever that community, neighbors helping neighbors, is essential. Because of this, we will be releasing GateCity IPA in cans this year and, as always, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to North Helpline.

Brewed with the uber-popular hop, Citra, the brewers of Hellbent created an India Pale Ale that packs a punch of citrus. In addition to this highly prized hop, the brewers used a malt base of Northwest Pale, Two Row, and Cara 20L. Coupled with classic hops, Simcoe and Mosaic, and you have the makings of a 55 IBU, 7% ABV (alcohol by volume), India Pale Ale.

Available May 19th, for delivery or pickup at their brewery, Hellbent Brewery asks all to visit https://biermi.com/brewery/hellbent for more information on delivery radius and pickup times.

About Hellbent Brewing Company

Hellbent started with three of us – Jack Guinn, Chris Giles and Randy Embernate – longtime friends and restaurant industry veterans. For us, starting Hellbent was the natural (and the coolest) thing to do, growing directly out of our experience and our love of beer. For years we home-brewed and toiled over our business plan. Then, we met Brian Young – award winning brewer, co-owner and fast friend – who turned out to be the missing link. Within a couple months, we were on the hunt for the perfect location.

We wanted our brewery in Lake City, where Chris and Jack already called home, to contribute to the growing beer scene here. When we stepped into the old CM Hopkins building for the first time, we knew we had found our venue. Starting right away, we gutted it and began the transformation, building with reclaimed wood, steel, good humor, and a fair amount of muscle.

Finally, after years of fierce determination and hard work (including seven months of construction), we opened our doors in the thick of microbrew country. We didn’t do this alone. We are humbled by the support and kindness of our friends and family that helped us along the way. So, to our beer-loving brothers and sisters of the Pacific Northwest, cheers and welcome to Hellbent!
