pFriem Family Brewers announces the upcoming, canned, release of Hazy IPA and Pale Ale.

Despite what you might believe, not all breweries have a garrison of workers, visiting every pub and grocery store. Most times, it's the large production breweries like Anheuser-Busch, Miller Coors, or Diageo (makers of Guinness Irish Stout), which have the muscle to visit every business to check to ensure they have adequate stock and naturally the freshest beers. Unlike those previously mentioned, many small, independently owned, craft breweries, have to predict the % of businesses which will sell out of their beers against those which won’t sell much of their beer at all, and decide what beers will be it canned or bottled.

As the preferred package for those who hike, stroll, or sit, bottles and cans are the goto delivery system for local beer drinkers. For this reason, breweries like pFriem Family Brewers took their time before evolving from a draft-exclusive brewery, to a brewery in bottles, to (only recently) a brewery in cans.

Starting with their India Pale Ale and Pilsner, the ownership and senior brewers of pFriem Family Brewers packaged these beers because they were the most in demand at their taproom and nearby pubs, restaurants, and bottle shops. But as one of the more popular breweries in the region, pFriem also recognizes more people want more pFriem beers in cans. Which is why co-owner Josh Pfriem had this to say.

With great anticipation and excitement, we are proud to announce that we are adding Hazy IPA and pFriem Pale to our line-up of canned beers. With the success of Pilsner and IPA in our off-premise channels, we wanted to bring our fans two new beers that we have been developing for years now, and which will add great diversity to our canned offerings and deliver joy to any drinking occasion.

Looking under the label, we learn the following about pFriem Hazy IPA.

For starters, this beer isn’t a one-off. Rather this beer has remained a beer in the brewery, with an evolving recipe which recently includes Bob’s Red Mills Classic Oats. The result is a beer that is smoother, drinkable, while inspiring thoughts of Hawaiian Friday. Or, to put it another way.

The big and juicy papaya and passion fruit flavors come from two of our favorite Pacific Northwest hops, Citra and Eldorado, which play very well with our fruity English yeast.

Available in six-packs, on draft, and in bottles, look for pFriem Hazy IPA this October.

Besides pFriem Hazy IPA, the brewery is happy to can up their pFriem Pale Ale, a beer designed for cans.

An evolutionary interpretation of the classic, American-style, Pale Ale, pFriem Pale Ale borrows strokes from its parent - the India Pale Ale - while keeping the heat low and the hop upfront.

This is not your Grandpa’s Pale Ale: this beer is bright, beautiful, fresh and very hop forward. It is dry hopped at a similar rate as IPA, but clocks in at 5.4%, which means this Pale Ale was meant for savoring the thirst quenching notes of ripe melon, mango, and citrus, can after can.

Available in six-packs, on draft and in six-packs, pFriem Pale Ale might be your next shower beer or refreshing reward after a hike in the hills.

But the brewery didn’t just expand their family of canned beers, they’ve expanded the brewery.

With on-premise channels seeing pressure from market shifts due to the pandemic, pFriem will be canning more beer in 2020 than ever.

Originally announced, earlier this year (2020), pFriem is not only installing a state-of-the-art, German-made brewhouse; but is also upgrading their packaging line to increase the scale of canning. Again, co-owner Josh Pfriem.

We are incredibly excited to be bringing in new, state of the art brewing technology to our facility. This new brewhouse will allow us to brew more beer at a level of quality and consistency that we have been dreaming of for years. The marriage of the technical skill and attention to detail of our team, and this new capability will surely delight all the pFriem fans in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Look for both pFriem Hazy IPA and pFriem Pale Ale, to join canned-edition of pFriem Pilsner and pFriem IPA, this October. As always, you can find pFriem Family Brewers beers at their taproom in Hood River (Oregon) at 707 Portway Ave Ste 101, Hood River, OR 97031; or at http://www.pfriembeer.com/.
