Imagine if you will, you're an aspiring early-20's kid from Washington, with dreams of snow, hikes, complimented with the occasional Solo cup of beer. A few years later you're standing on polished concrete brewing a beer named like Polygamy Porter, in Utah! So far you'd think this was the making of a film written by the Cohen Brothers and produced by Warren Miller. Instead, it's a story about a man who traveled throughout the Western United States with the dream of opening a brewery inspired by the beers of Belgium.

Welcome to pFriem Family Brewers in Hood River, Oregon

Now wipe the cerebral cortex clean and imagine a European Football-supporting, golf loving, accountant, who after a bout of tendentious spends his time between balance sheets at a local telecom and supporting his wife and first child. A typical story so far right? Now, what would you say if we told you this guy, we'll call Scott, is a double agent who fills out proformas by day and replicates his favorite beer recipes at night. So far this sounds more exciting than another Michael Bay-produced Transformers! But this screenplay has a happy ending as Scott not only keeps the girl, is a hero for his son, but get this - he owns his own brewery in Seattle!

Ok. Maybe we embellished things a hair but this is mostly the story of Reuben's Brews and one Adam and Grace Robbings.

What does this all have to do with the headline?!

Both breweries, without any collaboration on their part, are set to celebrate six years of brewing beers in the Pacific Northwest.

Located in the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard, Reuben's Brews open their doors (at 11 am) to those who got in line early or just strolled through the door at 2 pm, doesn't matter. But if you want a limited edition glass, you need one of the first 100 through the door.

Meanwhile, pFriem Family Brewers located along the shores of the Columbia River starts the party off at 4 pm featuring live music, lawn games, entertainment for the kids, food, and of course beer! Admission is free. The live music is free! Heck, the clean (ish) air is free! What isn't free is the food or drinks. I mean there is a law in the state of Oregon against giving away alcohol!

Whether you live in or around Seattle or in or around Hood River, there are two great options to choose from. Oh and for those who want to avoid the crowds in Seattle, Brouwer's Cafe is hosting a pre-funk, pre-anniversary party on August 3rd.

Choose!
