Chuckanut Brewery and Kitchen invites craft beer authors, during Bellingham Beer Week

As Bellingham Beer Week looms in the close future it’s time to set your schedule You will definitely want to include Chuckanut’s Lecture Series April 23 to 25 at 7 pmin the back covered patio at 601 W Holly St, Bellingham. During the talks there will be raffles in support of the Max Higbee Center too! On April 23 well- known beer writer, and podcaster John Holl will talk about where craft beer is now and where it is going, the subject of his upcoming book. April 24 another well known beer writer and podcaster Jeff Alworth will talk about his book “Secrets of the Brew Masters”. And on April 25 members of the Whatcom Symphony will talk and play classical music for the first of the season “Classical on Tap”. This series will continue to take place throughout the summer on the last Wednesday of each month.

John Holl is the author of The Craft Beer Cookbook, past editor for All About Beer Magazine and now senior editor and writer for Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine. He also produces a great podcast about craft beer for the magazine. John spoke at Chuckanut as part of one of their first lecture series during Bellingham Beer Week and is known for his frank and educational discussion  about beer. He will be talking about the state of craft beer in America: past, present and future at this year’s lecture.

Jeff Alworth has been writing about beer and brewing for twenty years. He is the author of The Beer Bible, Cider Made Simple, and The Beer Tasting Toolkit. A columnist for All About Beer, he has written for a number of magazines and newspapers, and blogs about beer at his popular site, Beervana. Jeff will be discussing his latest book “Secrets of Master Brewers”.

Village Books will be on hand during both of the authors’ talks. They will have a selection of beer books available for purchase and if you purchase one of the author’s books they will sign them for you.

On Wednesday, April 25 members of the Whatcom Symphony will present the kickoff program at the Kitchen on the last Wednesday of every month called Symphony on Tap. They will include talking about and playing classical music as a way of introducing it to those who have never considered it and to those that love it and want to know more about it. The Executive Director, Gail Ridenour will talk about the pieces of music, its history and the musicians that are performing the pieces before each piece. She always leaves plenty of time for questions about the classical music being performed and the Whatcom Symphony.
