Seattle, WA - If you are reading this then one of things has occurred, one you are at home and getting ready to head down to Wallingford for a certain beer, or two you are reading this from work and are frustrated that five o'clock can't come soon enough. Either way, today's the day to get your hands on another annual tradition, Bottleworks' Anniversary beer.

Every year since 1999, the two well known Matt's (Matt Vandenberghe and Matt Bonney) get together with a local or national brewer to collaborate on a beer that best represents Bottleworks' mission. In previous years they have collaborated with Russian River, Elysian, Hair of the Dog, New Belgium, and even some former brewers such as Far West's Tom Munoz (also recently former brewer of Stix, and Silver City). Join them today as they add another brewer and brewery to their growing list in the form of Big Sky Brewing.

Using their previous experience in the brewing industry Matt Vandenberghe and Matt Bonney sampled multiple beers (even some barrel-aged), to create what they felt best celebrated their Anniversary.

Here is what Bottleworks had to regarding what this beer is made of.

Our 11th anniversary ale is a blend comprised mostly of Ivan the Terrible aged in port, bourbon, and rye whisky barrels with a few other touches like a Belgian Dark strong ale added for balance and complexity. Expect a very rich stout with equal parts fruit and wood. –source, Bottleworks’ website

As always, a beer such as this has a bottle purchase limit (usually around two per person) so don’t walk in thinking of buying the whole lot. As an added bonus, the beer will also be tapped in their back bar area, for those who don’t want to pop the cork just yet on their purchase. Finally, we just received word that Matt Long, head brewer at Big Sky will be in attendance from 5 to 7 PM to answer questions and pour you a sample of the XI.
