With an eye to the future, Pike Brewing Company welcomes their newest investor Seattle Hospitality Group.

Announced earlier this week, Pike Brewing Company along with The Pike Pub and Tankard & Tun, have publicly confirmed an investment from Seattle Hospitality Group.

Founded in 2002 by Howard Wright, the SHG has investments in restaurants such as Ethan Stowell Restaurants, MTRWestern, Kenmore Air, affiliated venues and other hospitality. For the Pike Brewing Company and its affiliated restaurants, the investment took years to complete, partially because of the ongoing pandemic. Sharing his thoughts on what motivated his investment, SHG’s Howard Wright states.

“Pike Brewing Company embodies everything SHG seeks in an investment. The company’s unique, high-quality products have helped define life in the Pacific Northwest for over 30 years. Charles and Pike President Drew Gillespie are forward looking and committed to securing and expanding their company’s future for generations to come. We can help them realize that dream.”

Founded in 1989 by Charles and Rose Ann Finkel, Pike Brewing Company remains a destination brewery, in the heart of the Pike Place Market. During the heavy tourist season, it’s not uncommon to wait for an extended duration, at either their seafood-focused Tankard & Tunn, or downstairs at The Pike Pub.

But the goal has been towards incubating a legacy brand, one that outlives its founders and co-owners. Charles, naturally, couldn’t be happier about SHG’s awareness through this investment.

“I designed Pike Brewing to be a hundred-year-old brewery like those I worked with in Europe years ago. I’m 77-years-old, and I was looking for the right partner to help Pike’s legacy live on. SHG’s focus on iconic businesses and understanding of the Pacific Northwest experience made them the perfect partner to achieve that 100-year goal and beyond.”

Despite the investment, Pike Brewing Company will remain autonomous, shepherded by founder Charles Finkel and co-owner and President Drew Gillespie. Not that the brewery won’t welcome help from fellow SHG partner, Ethan Stowell Restaurants.

With his vast food and beverage experience, Ethan Stowell has created inspired eateries and has consulted for such venues like T-Mobile Park, home to the Seattle Mariners. For chef Stowell, Pike’s reputation is not lost on him, as he, like the region, recognizes the contributions of Pike Brewing Company.

“Pike Brewing’s products are among the Pacific Northwest’s signature beverage offerings. We look forward to working with the Pike team to grow the brand and help get their excellent beers in front of even more people.”

For now, co-owner and President, Drew Gillespie looks forward to working with Ethan Stowell as he helps to improve the food and beverage experience at The Pike Pub and hopefully soon, Tankard & Tunn. Besides The Pike Pub, the brewery hopes to expand the awareness of Pike brewed beers throughout the region and internationally, via their shared relationship with other SHG investments.
