With a focus on the future, Gigantic Brewing updates their Ginormous Imperial India Pale Ale
A perennial favorite among the loyalist and acolytes alike, Gigantic Brewing’s Ginormous Imperial India Pale Ale (or IPA) remains as expressive as the brewers who make it. A showcase of citrus inspiring hops in a tight pint-sized packaged, Ginormous remains a passion project for co-owners Van Havig and Ben Love. But like that worn shirt in the closet, those tread-bare shoes on the porch, time to make a change.

With a focus on emerging varieties of hops, Gigantic Brewing is changing up their beloved robot, but it’s for the best.
Developed at our secret testing facility deep in S.E. Portland, we are taking it to Eleven with that west coast hop flavor from ridiculous amounts of Simcoe, Cascade, Nelson and Columbus hops.
Then again, for co-owner Van Havig, the name IS called Gigantic.
“When you name your brewery Gigantic and you grew up loving robots, it’s just a skip and a jump that your mascot should be a ginormous robot.”
Imbued with characteristics of an Imperial West Coast India Pale Ale, MASSIVE is described by the brew crew as a huge citrus presence with notes of grapefruit and hop dankness. Plus the brewery is changing up the label as well.
With artwork from Robert Reger, the new label art explores “... the dark, entertaining, crossroads between desire and the absurd.” Then again, Rob does have some experience with the subject having successfully published a best selling book in Japan.
Finally, the brewery reminds you, as a member of the BottleDrop Refillable program (currently supported in Oregon), their bottles can be reused once returned to an affiliate drop location.
BottleDrop Refillables are sorted, washed, inspected, and delivered back to Oregon’s craft beverage producers to be refilled.
