Their first non-alcoholic beer, here's the story of Crux Fermentation Project's NØ MØ.

Like so many breweries, there comes a time in their growth when brewing with the four key ingredients isn’t enough. In the past, breweries have attempted to keep the attention of consumers with beer styles names like Hazy, Juicy, or Brut. Even more recently, breweries have been attempting to further differentiate themselves by expanding into other beverage categories like hard seltzers. Today, the next race towards further unique differentiation is non-alcoholic beers.

In Bend, Oregon, Crux Fermentation Project’s Larry Sidor and his talented brewers have recently announced their first ever non-alcoholic beer.

Crafting a non-alcoholic beer is no easy task, and to produce something that feels similar to drinking the real thing is even more of a challenge. Most non-alcoholic beer on the market has simply had the alcohol removed, but this was not the approach we wanted to take.

Introducing NØ MØ, the brewery’s first non-alcoholic india pale ale. Further explaining NØ MØ, here’s Sidor again.

NØ MØ was developed from the ground up, with a formulation built specifically for this “near beer”. Our goal was to produce a non-alcoholic IPA that fans would truly want to drink - and so far, we’ve found that to be the case with NØ MØ.

If the name seems familiar, then you represent some of Crux’s many fans who’ve consumed copious amounts of Gimme Mo IPA. Like Gimme Mo, NØ MØ uses the same ingredients, including Flaked Oats, Honey, Crystal Malts, and of course Citra and Mosaic hops from the valleys of the Pacific Northwest. The result is a “beer” that is refreshingly familiar but with only 30 calories and 0.5% ABV (alcohol by volume). Of course, the development and release of NØ MØ was a team effort.

Working with head brewer Cam O’Connor, along with the rest of the brewery team, Crux Fermentation, tirelessly producing, testing, and retooling the recipe. In the end, the recipe selected was an india pale ale, with a “full flavor” and a medium body. The brewery hopes you’ll appreciate the work that went into creating a non-alcoholic beer that is near to the real thing, with as little alcohol as possible.

Available in the Oregon market, including Crux Fermentation’s brewery taproom, NØ MØ is available in 12-ounce six-packs. Also, if you live in Oregon, Washington, California, or Arizona, the brewery will ship directly to your doorstep (with a valid 21 and over identification and signature).
