This Gose-style ale was aged in oak barrels for up to 10 months before infusing with fresh orange zest, fresh lemongrass, ground coriander and Oregon coast sea salt. The base beer is a light wheat ale that is lower in alcohol and acidity than our standard Northwest Sour Series. The beer is designed to sour slightly faster than our Northwest Sour Series as well, reaching maturity between 6-10 months. This was the first in a series of canned sours that are designed to be crisp, easy-drinking sours while at the same time, offering clean and complex flavors. With its soft acidity and fresh flavors, this canned series is a great “gateway sour” for those new to sour beer or for the sour beer connoisseur looking for a softer approach to the style. Tropical Grasslands will be available in draft kegs and 12 oz cans. These cans are meant to be consumed fresh, not aged.
Tropical Grasslands will be available locally at the Cascade Brewing Barrel House at 939 SE Belmont Street, The Lodge at Cascade Brewing at 7424 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, and online at CascadeBrewing.shop for local pickup only. It will be made available through the brewery’s distribution network beginning June 7th.
