Press Release

It’s that time of the year again!

Burke-Gilman is releasing our holiday stouts, and if you’re looking for the perfect holiday gift for the beer lover in your life, look no further. We’re offering this package of bottles as a set, but they’re also all on tap (while they last) and you can buy single bottles as well, once you pick a favorite.

At Burke-Gilman, we’re well known for our IPAs, and we’re starting to win awards for our lagers. This is another part of our mission to explore beer styles, and explore them well: barrel aged imperial stout. When you visit the taproom, you can sit next to barrels of beer quietly, happily maturing. Sometimes people read the writing on the barrels and get an idea of what’s coming up. A few times a year, we put them in bottles and kegs and we have some fun. Come join us!

Here are this year’s offerings. They are all available in the taproom, will show up at a few bottleshops, and you can pre-order at our website to make sure you get yours (we're happy to hang on to it for a bit if you can't make it in right away.)

Kamchatka, 14.1% ABV

Russian Imperial Stout aged first in a maple syrup barrel, then in a bourbon barrel. Dark chocolate, maple syrup, espresso with warming alcohol. Rich, velvety mouthfeel. Finishes with maple syrup and mild coffee. Won the people's choice award as the best beer in the Winter Beer Fest last weekend in two out of the three sessions. (We'll go for three out of three next year - we apologize for letting the side down. Still, it's delicious beer!

Novosibirsk, 15.1% ABV

Our base stout, double barrel aged in Woodinville Whiskey Rye Whiskey barrels. Molasses, dark chocolate, black cherries, rye bread. Hint of booze, but does not taste like 15%. Be careful. Share this bottle with a good friend.

Khabarovsk, 14.7% ABV

Russian Imperial Stout, double barrel aged in bourbon barrels. Caramel, dark fruit, vanilla. Char from the barrels. Big bourbon presence. If you’re a fan of bourbon in your stouts, this one is for you.
