Press Release

Seattle, WA: Fresh off awards season, when seattle neighborhood brewery Burke-Gilman Brewery was recognized nationally for IPAs, they’ve decided to put out something that matches the season.

“We love our hops, but when it’s cold out, we really like to drink something big and bold and dark,” says Kenneth Trease, Co-Founder of Burke-Gilman Brewing Company. “We started working on this project last winter, brewing up a batch of our Russian Imperial Stout and sourcing a variety of interesting barrels to age it in. Last fall, we tried them all, and the whole staff voted on the three that seemed most ready.”

“I definitely think of myself as a hop brewer - I didn’t even like stouts much until I got here” says Phil Pescheck, Head Brewer. “But I’ve developed a real fondness for our version, and a chance to age it in all these barrels was one I couldn’t pass up.”

“We decided it would be more fun to sell a full set, so people could use it as a holiday gift,” says Bridget Lundquist, co-founder and taproom manager. “So, we found a nice box to put it in, decorated it a little, etc. We think it will look pretty nice under a tree. The Santa in our house would very much appreciate one of these bottles with the cookie you leave out.”

The whole staff chipped in with this release - brewing, moving barrels around, bottling, waxing, packaging. They’re very proud of it.

Burke-Gilman Brewing Company occupies 2,800 square feet of space in Northeast Seattle, and features a 7 BBL brewhouse, eight 7 BBL fermenting tanks, four brite/serving tanks and to-go packaging capabilities, with an annual production capacity of 750 BBL. For everyone’s safety during COVID-19, taproom customers will be escorted to an open table on arrival. For more information, visit burkegilmanbrewing.com
