With the proclamation by Washington state governor Jay Inslee, prohibiting “ gatherings of more than 250 people in King County” and King County Commissioner Dow Constantine’s prohibition “of gatherings of fewer than 250 people unless measures are taken by event organizers to minimize risk”, businesses are taking steps to adhere to the governor’s guidance. Because of this, businesses in the Seattle and Greater Seattle area have made a decision impacting customers and staff. Another to join the ranks is Fire & Vine Hospitality, owners of brands El Gaucho, Miller’s Guild, The Lakehouse, and Civility & Unrest.

Seattle, WA – March 12, 2020 – Due to the unprecedented decline in travel, tourism, and business activity in the region caused by the coronavirus virus (COVID-19), Fire & Vine Hospitality today announced that the company will temporarily suspend operations in nine of its restaurants.  Aerlume and AQUA by El Gaucho will close on Thursday, March 12th.  El Gaucho locations in Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma and Portland, as well as Miller’s Guild, The Lakehouse and Civility & Unrest will close following dinner service on Saturday, March 14th.  The company will reopen all locations as soon as possible.

Included in this notice, Fire & Vine has clarified that their operations in Walla Walla county, including Eritage Resort, Walla Walla Steak Co., and Crossbuck Brewing; will remain open until further notice.

Taking a moment to share his feelings on this decision, CEO Chad Mackay said:

We are grateful for the incredibly hard work by our team, but despite efforts to cut costs and stay strong, the effects of this outbreak have been deeply felt.  Closing our doors, even temporarily, is the hardest decision we have ever made,

We believe in the strength of our community and we will reopen.  We look forward to celebrating with our team and guests when we begin again.
