For "Pepper" soda lovers the world over, Strange Fellows Nostrum might be a match made in beer heaven.

Take internally to expel demons, inspire fondness, satisfy thirst, fortify nerves, and restore vitality

Brewed as an homage to “Pepper” sodas of the United States, the brewers of Strange Fellows sought to replicate this unique soda but in the heart of a Dark Saison. Introducing Nostrum, a Dark Saison with Tonka Beans, Sarsaparilla, Cubeb Berries, and Coriander.

As the brewery put it:

The idea for Nostrum was born from a love of a great American “Pepper” soda. We brought those same soft and spicy flavours to a Dark Saison using a bunch of unique ingredients including Tonka bean, Sarsaparilla and a few dark sweet cherries.

Appreciating a brewer’s palate, Nostrum looks almost like milk chocolate in color, before it carries your olfactory senses away with notes of cola and spice in the nose. Taking your first sip you will appreciate the unexpected soft and sweet character, which finishes balanced as it concludes its journey across your taste buds.

Brewed with Canadian Pale Malt, Tonka Bean, Sarsaparilla, Cubeb Berries, Coriander, cherries, and a Blaugies Saison yeast; Nostrum will not only expel your daily demons but would compliment any hearty conversation around a warm fire.

About Strange Fellows

We are an East Vancouver craft brewery inspired by tradition and creativity, and go beyond the ordinary to celebrate that which is strange* and extraordinary. The beer we make is influenced both by old world traditions and West coast ingenuity as well as by seasonal ingredients. Our barrel programme promises unique aged beers, and we have a bit of a thing for sour beer. Open daily for growler fills and gathering with friends, our Tasting Room offers an ever-changing selection of beer as well as tasty locally sourced grub to go with. Behind-the-scenes tours of the brewery are available by appointment only. Please email or call us and we’d be happy to arrange a tour and tasting for your group, big or small.

You can find our beer on tap at many fine drinking establishments and restaurants, and our packaged product in private liquor stores around town. Tucked in alongside the Tasting Room, you will find the Charles Clark Gallery where artists share their unique visions with us on a monthly, rotating basis. We invite you to celebrate with us each month as we observe a different Strange Day, inspired by obscure superstitions and folklore from around the world.
