Seattle's Stoup Brewing Company releases the first canned beer from designer Sean Sfigaloa from KRFTWRK.

Seattle's Stoup Brewing Company releases the first canned beer from designer Sean Sfigaloa from KRFTWRK.

Like so many breweries, Seattle’s Stoup Brewing Company was forced to make radical adjustments to how they sold beer. As one of the numerous breweries with both a taproom and draft distributed throughout the region, the coronavirus forced them to change from a brewery and taproom with a limited amount of crowlers, bottles and cans to a brewery with more canned beer than ever before. But this decision wasn’t exactly a newly informed one.

While canning was always in the 2020 plans, Stoup Brewing wasn’t quite ready to launch when  the March shutdown due to COVID-19 spun the brewery into emergency mode. But with draft  sales essentially turned off, packaging beer immediately became critical to survival. “We had  to scramble,” Co-Owners Brad Benson, Robyn Schumacher and Lara Zahaba concurred.

Under the ubiquitous “Hello My Name Is” label, Stoup sought a temporary solution to their future canning plans, until the brewery had the best design that represented the quality beers inside. After months of working with the designer, the brewery shared this about the new can design.

We are excited and ready to share these new cans because they look and feel like Stoup and  are sure to resonate with anyone that has spent time in our tap room.

For Stoup it starts with their most popular beer, the brewery has selected their flagship Citra India Pale Ale, to be the first beer canned with the new design. Following this release, Stoup Brewing Company plans to release Pistol Fingers IPA, Mosaic Pale Ale, and finally German Pilsner.

A special thanks from the ownership goes out to their design partner, Sean Sfigaloa from the firm KRFTWRK.
