Lucky Envelope Brewing invites you to enjoy their South African Juicy IPA, Vienna Lager, or Strazberry Milkshake IPA.

Located in Ballard’s “Brewery Blocks”, Lucky Envelope Brewing remains one of the few Asian-owned breweries in the city of Seattle if not the region. They are also one of the more overlooked breweries in the neighborhood, which provides for shorter lines, and ample seating outside. All the more reason to swing over their taproom and try one of the following seasonal releases or look forward to those still in the fermentors.

South African Juicy IPA

At 6.3% ABV (alcohol by volume), the latest beer produced in their ENIAC IPA Series, this IPA loaded with hops Southern Passion, Citra, Mosaic and Amarillo Cryo. Described by the brewers as having high notes of red raspberry, this beer is an exhibition in a glass for those looking to try the elusive Southern Passion hop from South Africa.

Vienna Lager.

For those who still yearn for a clean, calm, lager, look no further than Lucky Envelope’s Vienna Lager.

Brewed as an homage to 19th century, Austrian beers, made in Central America, this beer has it all. Pouring a reddish amber, Vienna Lager inspires thoughts of sweet grains, toasted bread, with a remarkable finish. At 5.1% ABV (alcohol by volume) this beer pairs well with a refreshing sip after raking the leaves, while cooking on the outdoor grill, or while relaxing in front of the fire.

Strazberry Milkshake IPA

Finally, Lucky Envelope invites you to look forward to this Friday’s upcoming release - Strawberry Milkshake IPA.

Taking their uber-popular Milkshake IPA, the brewers brewed a smaller batch and added copious amounts of berries. The result is a beer that is noted as a being akin to enjoying a thick jammy milkshake IPA. Made with 1 pound of strawberries, raspberries, lactose, vanilla, per gallon. You won’t need a straw but at 6.2% ABV you might be taking a nap if you drink too many.

About Lucky Envelope Brewing

Lucky Envelope’s brewing philosophy is centered around “Culturally Inspired Beer” whose recipes draw from modern and historic brewing styles and techniques. In addition, Lucky Envelope also uses both traditional and non-traditional ingredients in our beers which range from traditional IPAs (ENIAC Mosaic IPA), to German-style lagers (Helles Lager), to seasonal favorites like our Two Pepper Pale Ale (Habanero & Shishito peppers) and Peanut Butter Cream Stout.

The name Lucky Envelope comes from the Chinese tradition of the elderly generation giving the younger generation red envelopes filled with paper money. The color red is meant to ward off evil spirits and bring good health, while the money inside is supposed to bring prosperity. The Mandarin word for the envelope “hongbao” translates to red pouch while the Cantonese word for the envelope “laisee” translates to lucky money. Many refer to the envelopes as red envelope, or Lucky Envelope. For Barry and Ray, lucky envelopes bring back good memories whether it was a Chinese New Year celebration, graduating from school, or celebrating a life milestone.
