Brewers, breweries, and taprooms have always been at the center of the national dialogue.

Impacted by everything from global warming, to the global pandemic, to taxation without representation, food and beverage is starting to lose its cool. All one has to do is follow a brand on social media these days, to see how frustrated they have become. For Hood River-brewed Double Mountain Brewery, they decided to let their beer do the talking. Named Hazy Clusterf#*k IPA, the brewers and ownership decided their next seasonal should be both ‘punny’ and also ignorant of style logic.

Strange days call for clarity, or perhaps a lack of clarity. For our next seasonal beer we decided to brew a style that defies good judgement and good reasoning, thus its a clusterf#*k or more specifically a Hazy Clusterf#*k. In these unsteady times, it seems fitting to bring back our Clusterf#ck IPA beer for the occasion. This year seems particularly clustered, so we made it a hazy. Clusters are used through-out the brew. What a wonderful hop.

At 6.8% ABV (alcohol by volume) and 75 IBU (international bittering units), this is what the brewery had to say about this beer.

“If you haven’t noticed, it is fucking clusterf#*k out there. Seriously. Global Pandemic, Police Brutality, Pride Boys, White Nationalism, Economic meltdowns, business failures, home-schooling, left-over pizza, hoarding toilet paper, Presidential tantrums, daily protests in the streets, complete ignorance of science...... just to name a few. Our cluster f#*k just got a little hazy- And why fucking not.” Matt Swihart, Owner & Brewmaster

Released in 500ml, reusable, bottles and on draft at their two locations, one in Hood River and the other in Portland’s Woodstock neighborhood, Hazy Clusterf#*k IPA is now available.

About Double Mountain’s mantra “Reduce, Reuse, Repeat”.

With news appearing throughout media outlets on the shortcomings of recycling and OPB reporting that Oregon recycling is on the decline, we determined that there is no better time than the present to share the information on why to choose refillable bottles. Complimenting this delicious experimental series, each beer’s label highlights the benefits of using refillable bottles. The carbon footprint of refillable bottles is vastly lower than other container choices, making it the best container for the environment. Add the benefit of reduced oxidation, and refillable bottles are better for the beer too. Reduce, Reuse, Repeat, a solid mantra, not only for refillable bottles but containers in general.
