Press Release

PORTLAND, OREGON ... –The world’s rarest beers are making their way to Portland for the annual Brews for New Avenues(BFNA). The nonprofit rare-beer festival boasts the city’s only live auction of unique craft beers and this year features bottles brewed exclusively for the event.

Uniting under the slogan “Great beer for a great cause,” breweries throughout Europe, the U.S., and Oregon continue to support BFNA and the festival’s mission of helping foster and homeless youth realize their potential. Last year’s event attracted 600 attendees and raised over $36,000 for services for youth. Now in its fourth year, New Avenues for Youth’s ambassador board hopes to expand the festival’s reputation as a must-attend event for beer enthusiasts.

This year’s top auction item is a bottle of Grote Dorst 2008 Oude Geuze Magnum. The famous lambic café –Grote Dorst –bottled theblend after their 2008 event,“The Night of the Great Thirst,” and only 15 Magnums were ever released. The live auction also features rare bottles from Cantillon, Toppling Goliath, and de Garde.
