image courtesy of Pyramid Ales Just a friendly reminder that another familiar (in the past year) beer is making its return, starting on the 20th of January with an expected run through March. Outburst Imperial India Pale Ale is back, as the breweries Spring seasonal. You heard us right, Spring.

For the uneducated the brewery was kind enough to supply us with this description.

A crafty combination of four different hops along with a dose of dry-hopping powers Outburst to 80 IBU strong.  Its bold profile offers an aroma reminiscent of the Northwest hop fields at harvest time, along with spicy overtones of fresh citrus. Seeking a harmonious balance to the hop overload, four different specialty malts are blended to create a distinctive deep amber hue, and sweet caramel and roasty flavors.

Last year, we had a chance to try this beer early on and we have to admit that it was a welcome sight to see a brewery with the year’s invested in the region, produce an aggressive beer. Don’t take our word for it, though here is what head brewer of Pyramid’s Berkley brewery had to say about this beer.

Brewed with an astonishing four pounds of hops per barrel, Outburst is a fantastic beer. This recipe has been fine tuned for years, and after several refinements and a great launch as part of our Ignition Series, many more hopheads can enjoy the bold taste and complex balance of Outburst this spring.

With a planned release party in Seattle (sorry Portland) around the 20th, Outburst will be available first at the Pyramid pubs, before being released to the masses sometime in early February and lasting through March. Look for this and the rest of the 2011 seasonal line-up through the rest of the year including;

… Curve Ball® Blonde Ale, summer; Juggernaut® Red Ale, fall; and, Snow Cap® Winter Warmer, winter.

As always look for this beer to be on the shelves (in 22oz ‘bombers’, 12 oz 6 & 12-packs), or on draft. If you don’t see it where you look for Pyramid Ales, ask your server or grocer to buy some.
