About Maplewood Brewery & Distillery

Evil Twin Brewing was started up “nomadically” in 2010 by Jeppe Jarnit- Bjergso. In 2012, Jeppe and his family decided to make New York City their home and join the burgeoning local beer scene. In 2016, Jeppe was approached with the opportunity to finally root his ideas & dreams and Evil Twin Brewing NYC was born.

At Evil Twin Brewing NYC we wanted to expand upon the traditions of innovation & further it with the intimacy of a local neighborhood microbrewery. With more control over our recipes, we are able to experiment on new flavors while perfecting the classics.

Collaboration is a huge part of Evil Twin Brewing NYC & we are excited to be able to host & collaborate with all the amazing brewers in NYC and throughout the world within our very own home base! We strive to be a community space for all of Ridgewood and Queens and our goal is that our brewery and taproom becomes a place for locals and beer tourists alike.

Our Queens brewery has been a long time coming & we are thrilled to have this home where our families, friends, and neighbors have a place to share our love for great beer, food & culture with the Ridgewood community, NYC, & the world!

Temescal Hop Rapture

Our friends at Cellarmaker came by and schooled us on making intensely hoppy beer again. Tons of Nelson, along with Riwaka, NZ Cascade, and a bit of Simcoe give this beer some serious hop impact. We packed as many hops into the kettle as we could fit to give this beer a firm bitterness and saturated mouthfeel, and topped it off with a hefty dry hop for extra aroma. This is definitely the most hops we’ve used since our last collab with Cellarmaker.

The Nelson came from both breweries; our’s is more straight guava-y, while theirs has that distinctive ripe, tropical diesel. Cellarmaker was kind enough to let us use their hard to find Riwaka for some passion fruit and gummy bear notes. A splash of NZ Cascade adds some citrus to the mix, while a little Simcoe fills it out with some punchyness. Clean Cal ale yeast and a simple malt bill of 2-row and oats lets those hops shine.

Kulshan Mother Earth Hazy IPA

Mother Earth Hazy IPA is fruity, well-balanced, and made with responsibly sourced ingredients. This year we will be donating $1 per pint and bottle sold to the Whatcom Land Trust. The Whatcom Land Trust works to restore and protect the wildlife habitat, scenic, agricultural and open space lands throughout Whatcom County that make this special place our home. With local malts from Skagit Valley Malting, and Salmon-Safe certified hops from Crosby Hops in the Willamette Valley and Roy Farm Hops in Yakima, this IPA has soft, bready malt flavors and lush citrus and tropical fruit hop notes.

Hazy raw honey body topped with fluffy off-white foam. Enormous fruity aromas of peach, Tropicana, starfruit, and Juicy Fruit. Big jammy flavors of orange sherbet, creamy papaya, tropical punch, and white grape. Finishes round and juicy with a Tutti Frutti blast.
