Kismet IPA. A familiar name, retooled and back for an encore, from Mother Earth Brewing Company.

If one has been following current events today, then you no doubt have heard about Viacom Television’s recent announcement they are bringing beloved Nickelodeon cartoon Ren & Stimpy back to the small screen. Maybe it’s fate, when one considers the slate of re-interpretations of classics like Dune, Batman, Scream, and many other cultural icons; Mother Earth has decided today is the best day to announce the return of a classic.Announced today, and also coinciding with National IPA day (tomorrow), Mother Earth Brewing has announced the return of their Kismet IPA.

Brewed for all beer drinkers, and still paying homage to its roots, the brewers of Mother Earth sought to produce an IPA that is “more fruit and citrus-driven”. If you are a fast-fan of the brewery’s Project X series of HIPAs, then you’ll most definitely love this alternative version of a familiar-sounding India Pale Ale.

Taking a moment out of the insane workday, Mother Earth’s Director Operations, Chris Baker had this to share about this release.

“We are really pleased with the way this vintage of Nelson and Idaho 7 came out from the farm. The aroma on this batch is loaded with citrus as opposed to some of the grassy qualities the varietal has produced in the past. This is a fantastic version to end the series on. We are really getting to experience all the best qualities of two choice hops on full display.”

Unfortunately, this announcement comes with sad news as the brewery has retired their “Resinator Series”, following the release of Kismet IPA. with the conclusion of Kismet IPA, the brewery will also retire brands like “Say When” and “Power of Love”.

If there is anything positive about this announcement, it's the promotion of a Resinator Series alum, Hop Diggity DIPA, to full-time status, starting next year (2021). As for the rest of the cuts mentioned, you can blame the popularity squarely on both of Mother Earth Brewing’s hot properties - namely the Hazy IPA series and Project X series.

For the head of marketing at Mother Earth, Kamron Khannakhjavani shares this regarding the decision.

“It’s always tough to discontinue beers, but at the end of the day you have to look at what your customers are buying. Project X is doing really well and there is only so much space in our beer program. Supporting a half-dozen year-round IPAs isn’t sustainable in this market.”

Finally, the brewery is committed to making Kismet IPA available until the end of 2020, as part of this farewell tour. Unlike the tradition seasonal release window of three months, the brewery felt Kismet deserved more time in the spotlight. Those interested in supporting Mother Earth Brewing by trying out this encore-edition of Kismet, can seek it out soon in 12-ounce 6-packs. But don’t fret if you miss out on the early editions of Kismet, as there will be plenty brewed throughout the year.
