Fernie Brewing Company announces four new releases in February.

Press Release

Fernie, BC (January 26, 2022) – In true Fernie-factor style, FBC is dropping not one, but four new  brews throughout the month of February. Each beer is part of a different series and boasts a range  of unique flavours, ingredients, and stories, to cater to a variety of different tastes.

They kick things off with a double launch day in FBC’s Tasting Room, on Thursday February 10th launching the latest addition to FBC’s Barrel Series, an Oak Aged Vienna Lager and their latest  IPA Series addition, Vantage Cold IPA. The Vienna Lager arrives in 473mL cans with a brand-new look and a malty aroma and smooth, clean finish. Bringing with it toasted malt character

complimented by a slight oak flavour, this new release is brewed with three malts including

Weyermann Pils, Vienna, and Acidulated, along with a dash of Tettnang hops, resulting in a malty,  crisp and light Lager. At 5.1%, this limited release Oak Aged Vienna Lager makes for a perfectly  refreshing pint to be enjoyed with dinner, after skiing, or anywhere in between. Available in 473mL  4-packs in FBC’s Tasting Room and as 473mL single serves throughout BC and Alberta, in craft centric stores.

Vantage is the newest brew in FBC’s popular IPA Series. A reward worthy of the climb, refreshing, crisp and bright, this  Cold IPA will have you reaching for more. Chock-full of hops including Huell Melon, Calista and Comet, along with four  specialty malts, Vantage is also FBC’s first Cold IPA – think crisp, drinkable, and hop-forward. Not your typical West  Coast IPA, expect a clean, light bodied beer with hints of fruity, floral notes peeking through a hoppy body. At 6.5% and  55 IBU, this refreshing brew makes for the perfect après pint. Widely available throughout BC and Alberta on tap and in 473mL 4-packs.

On Thursday February 17th, the second beer in FBC’s new local-only Discovery Series comes to town. Brew No.2 is a refreshing Schwarzbier, brewed with seven specialty malts including Weyermann Pilsner and Blackprinz, bringing deliciously subtle chocolate flavours to this dark, malty Lager. An addition of Perle and Hallertau Mittelfruh hops adds light floral hop character to this 5% brew. The winning photograph for this brew features a snowy aerial shot of Fernie, with the iconic Three Sisters and Mount Fernie in the background, taken by local photographer, Danyal Taylor @danyaltaylor. This Discovery Series Schwarzbier will be available in limited quantities both on tap and in 473mL 4-packs in FBC’s Tasting Room, and in local Fernie Liquor Stores.

The final new brew is Contour Cherry Ale. A Summer Seasonal, Contour launches on Thursday February 24th. Bursting with sour cherry flavour, this refreshing Cherry Ale is the perfect pit stop for any adventure. New to the FBC line-up, hops and malts play a small role in this beer, with refreshing cherry flavours taking center stage. Jam packed with sour cherry juice, a dash of Belgian yeast brings subtle banana flavours, balancing the sourness of this punchy brew. Bright red in colour, this brew packs a fresh and fruity punch, making for the perfect sip of summer. Widely available, on tap and in 473mL 4-packs throughout BC and Alberta all summer long. All brews drop on their respective launch days at noon, until 8pm – before heading out on tap and in select liquor stores across BC and Alberta. Discovery Series available locally only.
