With spring's arrival, comes four new beers from Hood River's Ferment Brewing. Hana Pils, Holy Citra IPA, Brewster's Pale Ale, & White River Saison.

Press Release

Ferment Brewing in Hood River today announced the release of four beers that capture the spirit of longer sunny days, wildflowers, and Pacific Northwest spring. The Brewster’s Pale Ale is a Pink Boots Society fundraiser beer released earlier this month; Hana Pils and Holy Citra IPA on Tuesday April 19; and White River Saison is available beginning April 26.

The Brewsters’ Pale Ale is a celebration of the women in the brewing industry and the women of Ferment Brewing with 15% of sales going to Pink Boots Society. The beer is a 5.9% hoppy pale ale with a smooth base of malted barley that supports a twang of citrus and tropical fruit hop notes. It is available only on draft at the Ferment Brewing taproom in Hood River and select bars in the region.

Ferment’s White River Saison is released every year in limited 500 ml bottles with a recipe that changes year to year. The beer is a classic saison, highly effervescent, 5% ABV, and inspired by the small farmhouse breweries of Wallonia. French, German and Belgian malts make up the base while Strissel Spalt hops provide a delicate earthy and citrus touch. The recipe was designed around a special yeast that was wild harvested from Mt. Hood National Forest by Brewmaster Dan Peterson, and provides a citrus and ester profile with soft notes of banana.

Hana Pils and Holy Citra are part of a new series of beers in which every four months Ferment will package tried and true fan favorites from its taproom into 12oz 6-pack cans. The beers can be found at Ferment Brewing’s taproom and in specialty beer stores and grocery stores in Ferment’s Oregon and Washington distribution footprint.

Hana Pils is a 4.8% ABV Japanese-style lager brewed with toasted rice, which gives the beer a slight nuttiness while keeping it light and refreshing. French Strissel Spalt, Slovenian Celeia, and German Hüll Melon hops layer on aromas of wildflowers, fruit blossoms, melons and strawberries.

Brewed with pilsner malt, malted and raw wheat, and oats to establish a light and soft base, Holy Citra IPA is brewed with no hops in the kettle. A cool whirlpool allows the loads of Citra and Amarillo hops to retain their aromatics while denying them the chance to become bitter. Then, more Citra and Amarillo are added in a whopping dry-hop charge for good measure. The result is a big, juicy, somewhat hazy IPA

with a huge PNW hop presence. The beer clocks in at 6.5% ABV.
