Press Release

To the delight of thousands — if not millions — of fans worldwide, May is prime time for celebrating all things Star Wars. “May the Fourth” has been considered Star Wars Day since 1979, while the “Revenge of the Fifth / Sixth” are more recent markers that feed month-long festivities.

In addition to expressing fandom via clothing, toys, and special editions of the movies, 21+ fans have a new way to feel one with the Force this year: the beer jedis at Tavour are featuring some extra special Star Wars beers!

The app-based craft beer retailer is known for connecting beer fans with hard-to-find selections from over 600 independent breweries around the country — which often entails tracking down the latest pop-culture beers. Now, Star Wars fans and craft beer aficionados can unite their interests with three different beers inspired by the May celebrations, each one more proudly geeky than the last!

The first two beers come from Ingenious Brewing in Texas. If there’s a brew crew that can rival Han Solo’s “cool” factor, it’s these guys. They’ve earned acclaim for creating an Avengers-themed lineup of beers and they’re known across the Houston area for their otherworldly fruited creations.

“We are all huge nerds around the brewery,” says Josh King of Ingenious, who notes that even his dogs have George Lucas-themed names. “We love comic books, video games, pop culture and try to integrate what we love into the beers that we make… So, when it comes to May 4th, we all knew that we had to put our own spin on the fan holiday.”

Case in point: Beam Me Up Luke Cream Ale. It’s a brew to fulfill the dreams of so many Star Wars fans who’ve fantasized about a Star Trek crossover. On top of the crisply refreshing 5% ABV Cream Ale base, the Ingenious brewers wove in real pineapple and coconut for a tropical twist. They also added blue spirulina to achieve a lightsaber-blue color, worthy of the Light Side.

Their other contribution to Tavour’s Star Wars lineup, Join the Tart Side Fruited Berliner Weisse, gets even more down and juicy with a stunning array of black cherry, blood orange, blackberry, pomegranate, boysenberry, and lime! It’s stronger too, with a 6.8% ABV. Just like Anakin, the talented Ingenious brewers have too much skill to play it safe!

What’s outside the Ingenious cans will delight fellow Star Wars fans as much as what’s in them. The brewers used custom artwork from the Hop Killers, a beer merchandise brand known for creative illustrations. In other words, the cans will stay collectible long after they’re empty!

Then, there’s Java The Hutt Stout from 903 Brewers. These Texas-based flavor jedis are renowned across the Dallas area for their creative and flavorful craft beers! And just like Ingenious, May presented an opportunity for the brewers to express their interests.

“Some of the crew are huge Star Wars nerds and jump at the chance to show off their nerd-dom,” says co-ower Natalie Roberts. “Projects like this that let us incorporate multiple passions are a lot of fun!”

To make their limited-release, Star Wars-themed Coffee Stout, the brewers started with plenty of chocolate rye malt in the base. Then, they conditioned the brew on Sumatra coffee beans.

The result is pure decadence, with notes of fresh-ground espresso and melty cocoa dancing in between a body-buzzing 12.6% ABV. Just as Jabba spends his days lounging around his Tatooine palace, the beer’s meant for slow-sipping on the couch.

After all, what better way to celebrate Star Wars fandom than to kick back with some beers and a movie marathon? With access to pop culture-themed brews like these on Tavour, the Force will always be with you, craft beer fans.
