Van's Stanley Park Brewing releases Waypoint Hazy Pale Ale

VANCOUVER, BC. May 27, 2020 - Slowly and safely, it is time to go exploring again. As proponents of getting outdoors and exploring the beauty of your backyard, Stanley Park Brewing is excited to announce the release of their aptly named Waypoint Hazy Pale Ale. Jump on your newly minted bike to uncover new trails in your local neighbourhood, stop during your regular evening stroll to truly admire and take in the views, take the extra time to walk a new route - go discover new waypoints along your journey.
As the world slowly comes out of quarantine, the artwork shared on the Waypoint Hazy Pale Ale packaging and cans also holds some timely symbolism. The illustration highlights Stanley Park's Brockton Lighthouse signifying a beacon of light in a sea of haze. We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The brew itself is made with a strong mix of hops and malts including: African Queen, Comet and Crystal hops; and Pale Malt, Malted Oats, Malted Wheat, and Golden Naked Oats. It has a golden haze appearance, an aromatic grapefruit citrus and tropical fruit flavour, and a low perceived bitterness and refined alcohol level coming in at 5.2% ABV and 35 IBU.
Brewmaster Thom Riley explained that although there have been a lot of hazy pale ales on the market recently, he was interested in making a more drinkable version. “I’ve tried to keep the same level of hoppiness and flavour you’d expect from an IPA, but just dialled back the alcohol. Waypoint Hazy Pale Ale has all the mouthfeel and aroma of a traditional IPA; it’s just a little more sessionable. I think this is a great beer for those who appreciate a hop-forward style.”
Waypoint Hazy Pale Ale is a great everyday beer for any occasion and to simply crack open with friends (while maintaining social distance of course). So jump on a zoom call or cheers your neighbour from the balcony this summer! This brew also goes great with all things grilled. As we move into patio and BBQ season, toss together a citrus salad and throw on a BBQ salmon or steak to pair with this flavourful brew.
