Ecliptic Brewing Company announces the promotion of Tucana Tangerine Sour and collaboration with breweries Cloudburst and Ruse, for 2020.

With the conclusion of 2019 fast upon us, the brewers and owners of Ecliptic Brewing Company have much to celebrate. Now in their sixth year, the brewery turns the corner, after the successful celebration of the "Five Years/Five Beers" series. But, as with any new year, it's important to look back on what you've created before you can decide where to go next. Which is why the brewery has announced their 2020 with changes both positive and negative.

All the Time

Back from 2019's Release Schedule, the brewery will make their Starburst IPA, Carina Peach Sour Ale, and Capella Porter again in 2020. Removed from 2019's list, Orbiter IPA, now replaced by the previously seasonal Tucanna Tangerine Sour Ale.

  • Starburst IPA. 7.6%. 75 IBU *available in 12-ounce cans

A starburst galaxy produces an exceptionally high amount of stars, similar to how Ecliptic Starburst IPA produces a soaring amount of hop flavor. Brewed with Amarillo, Azacca, Centennial, Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe hops for fresh flavors of citrus, fruit and pine. 100% Pale malt makes for a super clean finish and puts the focus on the hop flavors and aromas. Dry hopped to the end of the universe!

  • Carina Peach Sour Ale. 5.5%. 10 IBU *available in 500ml bottles.

Carina Peach Sour Ale takes its name from the constellation Carina, the keel of the ship Argo in the southern sky. Loaded with fresh peach flavor, Carina is a sour ale perfect for any time of year. The use of Pale malt makes for a crisp character, while lactobacillus gives Carina a tart and refreshing finish.

  • Capella Porter. 5.2%. 39 IBU *available in 500ml bottles

Capella Porter is named after a bright star in the constellation Auriga. Sweet dark malt aromas are followed by a nice medium body. Flavors of chocolate and caramel meld with just a touch of roast. A collection of American hops (Nugget, Chinook, Centennial and Cascade) brighten this lively porter.

  • Tucana Tangerine Sour Ale. 4.8%. 10 IBU *available in 500ml bottles

Named after a constellation of stars, Tucana Tangerine Sour Ale is crisp and refreshing, with a touch of tangerine that plays nicely with its well-balanced tartness. The twist of citrus shines bright above the subtly dry finish of this sunset-hued ale.

Seasonal Series *available in 12-ounce cans

New to this year's list of seasonal offerings, Ecliptic Brewing Company releases Meridian Vanilla Stout for January and February. Complimenting Meridian, SunRay Juicy IPA will be on draft during May and June. Your seasonal favorites Flamingo Planet Guava Blonde Ale (available March - Mid May), Quasar Pale Ale (available August thru October), and Filament Winter IPA (available November and December) will be back. Unfortunately with this announcement, Luna Kolsch will not return but may come back as a taproom exclusive or limited-release.

  • Flamingo Guava Blonde Ale. 5.5%. 25 IBU

Flamingo Planet Guava Blonde Ale is an easy drinking blonde ale at 5.5% ABV and is brewed with guava as the 100% pale malt provides a light body and golden color. Lightly hopped with Amarillo and Crystal, this fruit-forward beer is perfect for us entering the spring season.

  • Quasar Pale Ale. 6%. 65 IBU

Inspired by its luminous namesake, Quasar is our light pale ale brewed for summer. Simcoe and Mosaic hops give Quasar Pale Ale a huge, fresh, tropical hop aroma. Flavorful and easy drinking, Quasar is a stellar beer for enjoying out under the sun.

  • Filament Winter IPA. 6.2%. 70 IBU

As the winter sun hangs low in our sky – some 90 million miles away – solar filaments (giant arcs of cool, dense plasma) explode from its surface. Ecliptic’s Filament Winter IPA celebrates this cosmic wonder. Pale Munich and Caramel malts create a rich malt character with honey-like flavor. A bounty of Crystal, Chinook and Centennial hops combine to lend a spicy, citrus hop note.

Limited Release Series

Recognizing the enthusiasm fans of Ecliptic had for their uber-limited Altair Fresh Hop Pale Ale, Astra Fresh Hop Lager, and Phaser Hazy IPA, the brand has elected to add a new India Pale Ale, Vega, to their exclusive list of beers. Details are scant regarding recipe changes as these beers have yet to establish firm availability dates.

  • Phaser Hazy IPA. 6.5%. 45 IBU *available in 12-ounce cans

Juicy and unfiltered, Phaser Hazy IPA stuns with a lively array of fruity hop notes. Phaser features Citra, Azacca, Mosaic, and Motueka hops. ABV 6.5%

Chinook, Cascade, and Sterling hops lend a balanced bitterness and subtle hop flavor to this brew that is as black as the vacuum of space.

Made with real vanilla, coffee and chocolate, this full-bodied beer finishes sweet and smooth. Says Chris Burch, Ecliptic’s Brewery Operations Manager, of the barrel-aged version, “It’s not done aging yet. It will be in the barrels for 11 months, but as we’ve been sampling it over the last few months, it’s developing really nice notes of cocoa.” Sedna was originally created as a small-batch, draft only beer last year, but Ecliptic brought it into the lineup as a 2019 Winter Special Release, and the fresh version will be available throughout Ecliptic Brewing’s distribution network.
