Rescheduled date for Kriekfest set for October 6th, from 11 am to 7pm.

HOOD RIVER, Ore. (August 14, 2018) — The 3rd annual Kriekfest, which was originally scheduled to take place in July but was postponed due to record-breaking heat, has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 6, from 11am to 7pm.
This year’s family-friendly event will take place at Hood River’s Waterfront Park, located at 650 Portway Ave. on the banks of the Columbia River. Kriekfest 2018 tickets are available at Merctickets.com/go/Kriekfest (tickets purchased for the original date will be honored). Advanced tickets include a commemorative stemmed glass and cost $40 with 25 drink tickets; or $25 with five drink tickets. Gate admission, if available, is $45 and comes with a glass and 18 drink tickets. Minors and designated drivers receive free admission.
“We were pleased to be able to cherry pick a date in October that allows us to celebrate the fall harvest,” explained event organizer Brian Yaeger. “The rescheduling also allowed us to source additional cherry beers and ciders, plus a sparkling cherry wine and sparkling cherry mead.”
Kriek, Flemish for cherry, is a four-centuries-old style of spontaneously-fermented, lambic ales aged on cherries (pits and all). This year’s lineup features an even larger collection of world-class examples imported from Belgium, including Brasserie Cantillon and Brouwerij Boon.
Hood River Valley’s abundance of cherry orchards served as the inspiration for Kriekfest. Cherry-growing regions are natural for such beers so it’s no surprise that Hood River’s Belgian-inspired breweries make excellent krieks. Gorge breweries featured at the festival include pFriem Family Brewers, Logsdon Farmhouse Ales, and Double Mountain Brewing.
New breweries to this year’s Kriekfest include small and exceptional wild ale brewers Ale Apothecary and Wolf Tree, both of which created sour cherry beers specifically for the event, as well as Scratch Brewing from Illinois, Odell Brewing from Colorado, and The Lost Abbey from California.
Since rescheduling the date, the festival has added Belgium’s famed 3 Fonteinen and the debut of Garden Path from Washington’s Skagit Valley to the lineup. For a complete list of participants, visit Kriekfest.com (the participant lineup is also listed at the bottom of this release).
