Initially sponsored by Steve, Joan & Stan Woolard as the Spring Beer Fest, the festival has promoted both craft beer and wine for over 15 years. Today known as the Oregon Spring Beer & Wine festival admission is cheap at $5 and includes a tasting mug. For an additional $15 you received fifteen ‘tasting tokens’ which would have been enough to balance between 22 wineries and 44 breweries.

Opened in 2006 Lazy Boy Brewery is situated north of Seattle in the shadow of Boeing and the United States Navy in the city of Everett. Owned and operated by Brewer Shawn Loring (formerly of Druids, Pikes, and previous breweries) the goal is to create enjoyable ales for all and not just a niche of consumers. Demonstrating that goal Shawn’s catalog includes such beers as; India Pale Ale, Porter, Amber, Hefeweizen, Pilsner, Golden Ale, and a season Winter Ale called Miseltoe Bliss.

Last weekend in Portland’s Convention Center Shawn while promoting his Lazy Boy Belgian style Golden Ale and Lazy Boy Imperial Irish Red Ale he managed to win two silver medals.

Congratulations Shawn on your recent win.

Cheers
