Mother Earth Brewing releases the newest beer in their Project X & 4Seasons series in Abstract Consciousness and Autumn.

Mother Earth Brewing releases the newest beer in their Project X & 4Seasons series in Abstract Consciousness and Autumn.

Like many years, Autumn represents the feverish season of pumpkin-spiced this and that. For imbibers, this is a time to seek Oktoberfest-inspired lagers, Autumn-minded ales, or beers brewed with hops picked fresh off the bine. Meanwhile, in Nampa, Idaho and Vista, California, brewery Mother Earth is ignoring trends by announcing two releases.

Starting with the latest in their Project X series, Mother Earth Brewing Company releases Abstract Consciousness.

Brewed with hops Galaxy, Strata, Simcoe, and Sabro, the beer has been described, well, like this.

A massive bowl of fruit candy is at the forefront of the first sniff, with four intensely-tropical hop varietals dancing off the rim of the glass, featuring aromas of melon, passionfruit, and fresh berries. The grain bill consists of mostly base malt with oats and dextrine providing a stout body that still drinks light. Expect a juicy mouthfeel thanks to the world famous “juice” yeast strain.

Also, the beer release marks the second time Mother Earth has sought the talents of Heidi Geist. Known simply as Geist, you might have seen her prior art during the 48 Beer Project.

Now available in 16oz cans and on draft, at their taproom in Nampa or via their ‘beer finder’ at findmotherearthbrewing.com, seek the art and consume within.

Following this release, Mother Earth is happy to share their newest 4Seasons release in Autumn.

Inspired by the Old Fashioned, Autumn is a 12.5% barrel aged old ale, before being aged with blended maraschino cherry syrup, navel orange zest, and authentic aromatic bitters. Again, with words to spare, here’s Mother Earth’s Director of Brewing Operations, one Christopher Baker.

During the initial barrel blend and sampling it was clear we had something special. In fact the beer alone had so many likenesses to the cocktail, it  didn’t even take all that much imagination. It  was really about accentuating qualities that were already there. Of course, achieving balance in the sum of its parts is another challenge entirely, but we feel like we nailed it.

For the layperson, one should ponder a beer that is dark as mahogany, with notes of caramel, vanilla, while being herbaceous. Also, much like the beloved cocktail that inspired this release, one should expect a bit of warming sensation from the 12.5% alcohol by volume.

For more information on Autumn, visit Mother Earth Brewing’s taproom in Nampa, Idaho, or seek it out via their ‘beer finder’ at findmotherearthbrewing.com.
