Firestone Walker has released a new short film as part of its “Crafted for Adventure” series. The new film—Drew Smith: A Young Man’s Road—captures the story of Drew Smith, a world-class mountain climber and one of climbing photography’s most notable talents. It follows Smith as he scales some of the most imposing rock walls in his home state of Montana, heeding a mantra he learned from his father: “Make the goosebumps last as long as you can, and take advantage of cheap thrills.”

Nowadays there’s a mantra used by breweries to make a selling point for their canned beer, it travels well in the outdoors. Via glamping, camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, or climbing, canned beers have remained associated with the outdoors. Often, when a brewery needs to emphasize the ubiquity of a can, they will rely on ad agencies, social media influencers, or yes, even journalists. But rarely does a brewery, let alone beer, come with a short film where beer is an extra while remaining present.

Directed by Coastal Californian, Dylan Lucas Gordon, A Young Man’s Road is a companion film produced by Paso Robles brewery, Firestone Walker. A photographer and climber, the story is narrated by and stars Drew Smith. Thankfully, this film isn’t the first but is instead part of a series of films titled “Crafted for Adventure”.

Nourishing Drew throughout this film are, naturally, cans of Firestone Walker Brewing Company’s beers.

Throughout the film Dylan Lucas Gordon, hope to relax you as the director films climber Drew Smith in Western Montana, inner played against images captured by Smith. As a traveling photographer who has visited amazing venues throughout the world, the images are breathtaking and smile-worthy. Besides imagery, you are soothed into a comforting state as Drew Smith recalls his life leading up to his climb in Western Montana, and his future.

Both therapeutic and inspiring, Firestone Walker Brewing along with director Gordon and climber/photographer Smith, hope you enjoy this short film.
