Festival News: WA: Winter Fest 2011, Results Announced
This past weekend while you were out shopping, running errands, or lounging on the couch; the 2011 edition of Winter Fest happened. Featuring over 70 different beers from some 30 different Washington breweries this was an excellent opportunity to enjoy what Winter meant to Washington brewers.
If you enjoyed a Winter Warmer, Winter Ale, or Imperial Porter; it was safe to say there was something for your. And it wasn’t just the beer that got people talking as breweries competed for your vote for best beer and best decorated brewery booth. Some of the most memorable were Elliott Bay brewer Bill Jenkins dressed as the Snow Miser, Black Raven’s Ice Chalet, or Elysian’s mini Christmas tree forest.
In the end the winners were declared on Friday and Saturday and without further ado here is the list.
Best Beer for Friday (1st thru 3rd Place)
- Fremont Bourbon Abominable Winter Ale “BBomb”
- Black Raven Gunpowder Plot Bourbon Nitro Porter
- Elysian Bye-Bye Frost Strong Pale Ale
Best Beer for Saturday (1st thru 3rd Place)
- Black Raven Festivus Seeker Double IPA
- Two Beers Infused 20:20 Blond Ale
- Naked City Big Lebrewski Winter Ale

Congratulations to Fremont, Black Raven, Elysian, Two Beers, and Naked City for taking home bragging rights till next year’s Winter Fest. Be sure to stop into their breweries or taprooms and see if they have any of their award winning beer left to try.
