January 22nd marks 1 year since Tanner, a true beer-loving dog raised in the Seattle craft beer scene, passed away. In his honor, and because their beer was the first Tanner tried and loved, Big Time Brewery brewed a Tanner IPA in 2019 and is graciously brewing it again in 2020!

So please join us for a toast to Tanner at Bottleworks, one of his favorite watering holes, on January 22nd 2020. Tanner IPA will go on tap at 5pm and we’ll raise our glasses in his honor at 6:30pm. Can’t make it? The beer will be on tap at Big Time and a few select spots around town after the 22nd. Tanner IPA is hopped with Galaxy, Citra and Amarillo and is 7.5% and 60IBUs. It’s delicious and won 2nd place at the Latona Pub’s March IPA Madness in 2019.

A little more about Tanner:

Tanner was adopted at the Seattle Animal Shelter in 2005 by Nat Pellman (Manager at Brouwers Café) and Danielle Johnson. Many people ask if Tanner was trained to like beer and the answer is “definitely not”. He was about a year old when he demanded (by barking incessantly) to taste from a growler of Big Time’s Bhagwan’s Best that had just been opened. After that he was obsessed and his thirst for beer became well-known to friends and beer-tenders in Seattle and beyond.

He was a regular at The Dray, Bottleworks and even Structures in Bellingham, where he often put his front paws up on the bar, or barked, to order his beer! Towards the end of his life he visited Bottleworks every Friday night, where he was greeted with an IPA in an Orval Glass, laid out on a bar towel on the floor. Tanner lived to be 14 yrs old, and had his last beer at Bottleworks just a week before he passed peacefully at home in January 2019. Tanner IPA honors his life and love for beer!
