Humphrey Bogart once opined “A hot dog at the ballgame is better than roast beef at the Ritz”. Many generations later, the name Humphrey Bogart might remain elusive. But their thoughts on food at the ballpark remain salient.

Truly, from the ardent fan to the casual observer, the sport of baseball where patience remains tested. It's a sport that asks you to spend hours in uncomfortable seats, exposed to the elements, hoping your home team will earn a victory. For the casual fan, it’s an opportunity to expose yourself to the sound of the crowd, the smell of ballpark food, with the looming question about why you’re there. Meanwhile, for the fans of the game, today’s baseball has abandoned many of its hallowed customs.

Just ask any fan of score keeping, with its strikes, balls, outs, runs, errors and percentages. They’d recall the interminable sensation of trying to record every foul tip, which position recovered the ball and tossed it to what position for an out. Or with frequency, those less attentive would ask them to stand up for someone who arrived late (or was departing early). It is likely that they would inform you that today's baseball has become a liturgical ceremony where one is expected to sit, then stand, without an opportunity to truly meditate on the game.

Recognizing this, Major League Baseball, in cooperation with catering companies and local businesses, continues to develop the food and drink experience at the ballpark. Or to put it more regionally, the Seattle Mariners invite you to check out their food and drink menu at T-Mobile Park.

Triaging what worked and didn’t during 2023’s baseball season, the Seattle Mariners and Sodexo Live! have updated their food and drink menu for 2024. But before we get to the gastro’ options, we wanted to focus on why you’re here - the beer.

With a greater focus on macro over craft, the Mariners have released their 2024 Beer Finder

Breaking it all down, we have a reduction in regional craft options.

Instead, the ballpark has sought to expand options to include more non-alcoholic, RTD (ready to drink, e.g. cocktails), canned wine, hard seltzer, and ciders. Conversely, the list of value beers is more craft heavy. In fact, the list of options in that short list includes Metier Brewing, Bale Breaker Brewing, and others.
