Event Details

A Daydream is a series of pleasant thoughts, distracting one’s attention from the present. From time to time, we all need a break, a rest or a Daydream. Doernbecher and Timberline have teamed up to bring you an inspiring, supportive, hope filled distraction, a day-of-days on Mt. Hood.

Join us Saturday, September 2, 2023, for Timberline Daydream, a celebration of music, brews, and bikes at historic Timberline Lodge benefiting
OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

The Timberline ethos prioritizes not only Mt. Hood stewardship and a high level of social responsibility, but positivity and support of each other. Through authentic relationships and interests, Doernbecher and Timberline realized their core values are aligned for the greater good, for supporting hope. It is through these beliefs that Daydream was born.

Portland Ore…. North Portland’s Mayfly Taproom and Bottle Shop is excited to announce the second annual Mayfly Kölsch Fest will kick off on Friday, August 26 and run through Sunday, August 28. This year’s event will feature 12 Kölsch-style beers, through a blind tasting process, from various local breweries as well as live music, cornhole and more!

Guests will have the opportunity to purchase a $30 tasting package to take part in the festivities. Each package includes two different rounds of six 3 oz. tasters. Guests will then choose their top two beers from each round, receiving a final tray with their top four choices, to determine their favorite overall Kölsch. Once the tasting is complete, they will receive a full pour of their top Kölsch in a custom 2022 Mayfly Kölsch Fest Glass that they can keep.

At the end of the weekend, all votes will be tabulated to determine which Kölsch received the most top votes, to crown the 2022 Kölsch Champ. With the entire event being a blind tasting, not even the breweries or distribution reps will know which beer is theirs.

Every tasting package includes the entire Kölsch tasting, the custom 2022 .3L Mayfly Kölsch Fest glass to be filled with the guests #1 Kölsch pick, and a Dos Hermanos Bakery soft pretzel with mustard. Each guest will also have the opportunity to guess which Kölsch they chose as their top beer and if correct, they’ll receive a $10 Mayfly Gift Card!

Fresh Hop Pop-Up Beer Fest at Prost! Marketplace

to Oct 2

Fresh Hop Pop-Up Beer Fest at Prost! Marketplace

The Fresh Hop Pop-Up Beer Fest returns for its 7th year at Portland’s “top food cart pod” Prost! Marketplace and the Bloodbuzz outdoor bar, as a covered beer garden, with ten of the best food trucks in Oregon complementing an incredible ever changing selection of the freshest fresh hop beers of the season. The annual event created by Portland Beer Week in 2015 is the longest, and one of the largest selections of fresh hop beers in the country, running for 17 straight days from 8am til 10pm daily.

Fresh Hop beers are only made once a year when the annual late summer and fall hop harvest takes place in the northern hemisphere. Instead of using the normal kiln dried and processed hop pellets that are produced for year-round beers, this is a special opportunity for breweries to use whole cone fresh picked hops straight off the bine in a matter of hours. Because most of the country is nowhere near hop farms like the ones in Oregon and Washington, fresh hop beers are almost exclusively available in the pacific northwest and come and go faster than our summer weather.

The Fresh Hop Pop-Up Beer Festival was first held in the parking lot of Burnside Brewing Co. (RIP) in 2015 to showcase the finest harvest beers of the season in one place, in 2019 it relocated to Prost!. Instead of searching the city and local breweries, bars, and bottle shops the pop-up fest curates a selection of 10 draft beers and continues to change them out to the latest offerings as they come out of the brewery tanks. Perhaps best of all, the event is free, outdoors, all-ages, and runs all-day.

Fun Fact: the Fresh Hop Pop-Up Beer Festival has never missed a year even during COVID-19 shutdowns; since this is a completely outdoors beer garden the fest was able to pivot to socially distanced draft beer and growlers to-go in 2020, and cautiously returned to the normal format in 2021 with masking.

To keep things interesting the Fresh Hop Pop-Up Beer Fest has collaborated or curated special featured brewery and region nights spread out across the 17 day run. Many of these themed tapping days will have larger selections of the seasonal offerings then the breweries themselves at any one given time, or even beers from out of state breweries that otherwise will not be seen in Portland.

Chilicon IV: The Fellowship Of The Bean at Uptown Market

PORTLAND, Oregon - Uptown Beer Co. will host Chili Con, it’s annual beer and chili pairing competition at its Raleigh Hills location on March 5th from 3pm to 6pm. This year will mark the return to an in person event after being forced to make Chili Con a take home experience last year.

This year, 7 Portland area breweries will bring their best chili and paired beer for all to enjoy. This year's breweries include Breakside, Baerlic, Away Days, Rosenstadt, BinaryBrewing.co, Stormbreaker and Loowit.

This year Chili Con will be benefiting Oregon Food Bank, a local non-profit focused on ensuring everyone has access to healthy food. A portion of each entry fee will go toward the Food Bank and at the end of the night all remaining chili will be sold off for $5 donations to the Food bank.

“Chili Con has become one of my favorite events we put on” said Joshua Johnson, owner of Uptown Beer Co. “We are so excited to have this event back in person this year. Being able to mix around and watch everyone compare notes on their favorite beers and chili creates a very fun environment,” said Johnson.

The entry fee of $45 can be purchased ahead of time at www.uptownbeer.co or at the door (if tickets are remaining). This includes a commemorative glass and sticker, 4 oz samples of each beer paired with 2oz samples of each chili, and a pint of your favorite beer. This event is ages 21 and up only.

While the event is a celebration of the pairing of beer and chili it is also a competition. Each entry includes a vote for each category: Best Beer, Best Chili and Best Pairing. At 6pm we will be announcing the winners. We will also enjoy raffles throughout the evening for all sorts of prizes!

Uptown Beer Co. has been a bottle shop and brew pub in SW Portland for over 10 years. Carved out of an old convenience store, it is now home to over a thousand unique beers, wines and cider as well as 36 taps. With draft beer, beer garden patio and thousands of beers to go Uptown Beer Co. has something for everyone to enjoy while catching up with friends as well as something to take home with you.

15th Anniversary at Brouwer's Cafe

Brouwer's_Logo.png

Holy shit, we’re turning 15. While it could be warranted to talk about what we’ve strived to provide for the beer community and how, after 15 years, we are still committed to the mission of providing one of the very best venues in the Pacific Northwest to enjoy beer, it isn’t our style to sit back and rest on our laurels. It is a time to reflect and then look forward.

We want to say thank you.

Thank you to every person who has ever stepped foot into Brouwer’s to enjoy a craft we love so dearly. Thank you to every guest who’s asked a question, tried a new beer or style, made a bad joke, become a regular, pre-gamed for your flight, spent your lunch break here, etc. What we mean to say is this: we couldn’t and wouldn’t be here with each and every one of you. We’ve changed a little over the years as we’re tried to meet the needs of beer lovers, whiskey drinkers, quick lunch eaters, and people who just casually walked in. We’ve tried to always do our best. This anniversary is for you; all of you.

Thank you to our present and past employees. We can still open our doors because of your dedication to craft beer, Belgian cuisine, and customer service. Not all of our relationships ended amicably, but at least a story or two from each of your time here still gets passed on; you are still part of this place. This anniversary is for you; all of you.

Thank you to all the brewers, distillers, brand reps, purveyors, and distributors for keeping us in stock of all our favorite beers, spirits, and food items. Your tireless, and often overlooked, work makes our jobs here so much easier. Without your dedication to quality, this place wouldn’t be thought of in the same light. Not nearly. This anniversary is for you; all of you.

And maybe most importantly, thank you to Vern. For over 15 years, he has provided many of us with a place to call home. Never one to micro-manage and always one to praise, you will not find a better business owner to work for. The Seattle beer community is a stronger place thanks to you and Bonney’s vision to take a Belgian-style bier café and make it into a world-class beer destination. The lineage of some of the Northwest’s finest beer establishments can trace its path through these doors and our little community tucked in the rainy PNW is all the richer for it. This anniversary is for you; enjoy it.

This year, we will have two anniversary beers. The first is a collaborative effort between E9, of the Tacoma E9s, and Holy Mountain, two of the finest producers of craft beer the country has to offer. The beer will be a sour rosé-style beer that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. The second is a west coast-style IPA from the trio of Stoup, Standard, and Cloudburst. Both beers will be available to purchase from Bottleworks on the morning of the 28th.

In addition to those beers, we’ll have a few beers from each of the breweries, some of our past anniversary beers, and some other deep cuts from our cellar. If you’ve been to one of our anniversaries before, you know we also break out some cool beers from yesteryear.

We hope to see you out on March 28th to celebrate this occasion with us. We are so excited to be able to have the good fortune to turn 15 and start to plan for the next 15 years. Cheers!
