Celebrating 17 years of Vortex IPA, with special releases, Fort George Brewery announces Vortex Month.

We’re always coming up with new beer here at Fort George. We like new stuff and our brewers have a lot of weird ideas. Burger beer. Pickle spices. Mushroom powder. Pies. Our truck drivers and dishwashers and office managers all have beer ideas, too. The Fort requires all our employees to have at least one cool idea per fiscal quarter. It’s basically the only requirement for working here ...

Buoy Beer Company releases four beers leading up to an Oktoberfest party at the brewery.

Buoy is also excited to announce its first canned collaboration beer brewed at the Buoy brewery. This year’s Festbier was brewed with Obelisk Beer Co., a new addition to the Astoria beer scene. Different from the darker, maltier beers many think of, this Festbier is a crisp, full-bodied golden lager with honey, floral, and bready aromatics balanced with Hallertau hops. Its time in the spotlight is seasonally limited, however, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Summertime is in full swing, and Buoy Beer Company has three new beer releases that pair perfectly with summer adventures.

Back for a second year is Buoy’s Vienna Lager, but with an even better recipe. Crisp and clean, the classic Austrian-style lager is brewed with Vienna and Pilsen malts, cold-fermented, then lagered for 5 weeks and bittered with Magnum and Saphir hops.

Breweries Block 15, Buoy Beer, and Sunriver, collaborate to support the Ocean Blue Project with the release of Where Rivers Meet Pale Ale.

Where Rivers Meet Pale Ale was crafted and brewed by all three breweries on May 26th in Sunriver, OR. Head Brewer Patrick Raasch describes the beer as “a light-colored, clear, West Coast-style Pale Ale with a bright citrus and tropical hop character”. The beer will be available on draft and in cans throughout Oregon and at the three brewery locations after the launch party in Newport.

While developing the beer concept and recipe, the breweries recognized the impact of sourcing ingredients from sustainable suppliers. “We brewed with a selection of Salmon-Safe hops from some of Oregon’s finest hop growers – Crystal from Goschie Farms, Strata from Coleman AG, and Estate Grown Comet and Chinook from Crosby Hop Farm.” Brett Thomas, Sunriver Brewing Director of Brewing Ops, explains.

Buoy Beer Company releases the latest edition of Love, Lost, at Sea.

Westward Whiskey is an award-winning craft distillery that began in 2004 with a vision to create a “distinctive American whiskey inspired by the American Northwest.” Based in Oregon, Westward’s focus is on single-malt whiskys created from scratch with local Northwest ingredients.

Over the 12-month aging process, Westward Whiskey’s single-malt whisky barrels layer a warm taste and aroma of bourbon onto Love, Lost at Sea’s distinctive malt profile. The barleywine’s dense grist of British pale, British Crystal, Chocolate, and special roast malts create a bouquet of dried dark fruit and toffee, and its toasted sweet flavors of caramel and marshmallow are balanced with a healthy dose of Oregon hops. Together, they create a strong, complex, and harmonious mahogany-colored ale with a final ABV of 10%.

Buoy Beer Company announces updates to their Year-Round, Rotating, Lager, River, and Tall Buoy series, while announcing the new Benefit series.

Discovering and supporting new organizations is something we look forward to every year, and we are happy to announce the inaugural Benefit Series partnership will be with Ocean Blue Project.

Ocean Blue Project is a grassroots, boots-on-the-sand nonprofit. Their mission is to rehabilitate and conserve the world’s oceans, beaches, and rivers to allow wildlife and human communities to thrive. Everything flows downstream and the ocean is a mirror reflection of our city streets, which is why they educate, empower, and lend their technical expertise to communities and governments around the world to support microplastics recovery, river restoration, and programs to teach kids to be stewards of the earth and wildlife.

“We’re excited to partner with an Oregon-founded organization and support their mission to remove garbage from the oceans,” says David Kroening, Co-Founder. “We all love the area in which we live, and it’s a great opportunity to help offset some of the environmental impacts of Buoy’s building collapse last year. We truly appreciate the community helping us clean up and we’re looking forward to continuing our efforts this year through donations and organized events.”

During the Benefit Series, 3% of sales will go to Ocean Blue Project. Stay tuned for details about organized cleanup opportunities around the area.
