Seattle Beer Week 2019, our picks through Sunday.

There was a time when something like Seattle Beer Week was fresh, new, progressive, fun. Well, 11 years later, it's still all of those and much more mature. For the uninitiated, Seattle Beer Week answers the question "what if you had a beer event every day, multiplied it by 10, and then did it in 10 days". With numerous events featured throughout Seattle, Seattle Beer Week is set to start this Thursday, May 9th. Like its predecessors, Seattle Beer Week or SBw (for short) will feature festivals, live entertainment, life speakers, dinners, and of course the Seattle Beer Week Beer.

This year, the folks at Aslan Brewing Company were selected to make the “official beer” of Seattle Beer Week. But we’ll touch on that tomorrow, May 9th. We kinda want to keep that one a surprise.

Well, here we are again. So what's a man or woman to do, when they've waited until the last minute? How about trust our years of experience and consider a modest list of things we look forward to? If you're game then let's get started.

Thursday, May 9th

04:30 PM Official 2019 Kickoff (Toronado-Seattle)

Why we are going. Stop into Toronado Seattle, as the organizers of Seattle Beer Week welcome all to witness the reading of the Seattle Beer Week proclamation. While in attendance, enjoy the first-ever tapped keg of Aslan Brewing Company's Washington Gold, the official beer of Seattle Beer Week.

06:30 PM Stop #2 - Beveridge Place Pub & Cask-O-Rama.

Why we are going. An annual tradition, the organizers take Seattle Beer Week on the road as they depart Seattle's Roosevelt neighborhood for West Seattle. If you want to welcome the organizers and their lucky entourage, you should be at Beveridge Place Pub around 6/6:30 pm. While you wait, make sure to get a slice or more from nearby Zeek's Pizza.

8:15 Stop #3 - Ounces Taproom & Beer Garden

Why we are going. On the way out of West Seattle, the SBW crew and company stop into Ounces. Featuring a plethora of beers from West Seattle and nearby Seattle breweries, this is taproom truly supports local.

9:45 Final Stop. Brouwer's Cafe.

Why we are going. Last stop on the tour, Brouwer's Cafe will provide a large welcome for those who've managed to survive Seattle's traffic and neighborhood hospitality. While there, check out the draft and bottle selection from one of the largest visible coolers around or check out the spirit selection at the adjacent bar.

Friday, May 10th

5 pm Toronado.

Why we are going. With a tentative arrival at 5:00, you are cordially invited to enjoy (probably) the last batch of Old 48 to be made. Conceived by the late Matt Bonney, co-owner of the Toronado, this beer was conceived several year's ago at Naked City Brewery and Taproom. With the demise of Naked City Brewery, Standard Brewing Company has accepted the challenge and brewed what many are saying is worthy of the name. Arriving by Metro transit, look for staff from Toronado, Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery, as well as numerous brewery celebrities including (a rumored) arrival by Naked City's very own Don Webb.

Saturday, May 11th

In the interest of full disclosure, we're taking a break from SBW and instead of turning our car towards the Valley of Yakima for some Maibock action. But if you fancy our opinion on where to go for Saturday here are a few ideas.

11:00 AM Haze Fest. Reuben's Brews
12:00 PM. Barleywood Squares. Hale's Ales.
12:00 PM. Pig Roast with Ravenna Brewing. Urban Family Brewing.
6:00 PM. Tomahawk Steak Night w/Fremont. Toronado

Sunday, May 12th.

Why we are going. If you’ve ever wanted to rub elbows with brewers this would be the event to check out. Previously hosted at Burgundian, this event is one not to miss.

12 PM. Hoppy Drinks on Tiny Links

Why we are going. With the theme being 80’s Heavy Metal, there is no doubt one will be inspired to wear leather jackets, blue jeans, and tons of hairspray. If you fancy yourself one who plays the 18 with a can of beer in your hand, this is yoor event.

6:00 PM. The Don Abides. Coindexter's

Why we’re going.Inspired after years of working at Naked City Brewing Company, Coindexter’s pay homage to Naked City Breweries’ founder Don Webb. Stop by if you wish to learn more about Don Webb, Naked City Brewing Company or what makes Coindexter’s special then stop by at 6:00 PM.
