Ecliptic Ultraviolet Blackberry Sour Ale

Press Release

PORTLAND, Ore ... In the (almost) four years of Ecliptic Brewing’s existence, their UltraViolet Blackberry Sour Ale has been a favorite among seasoned sour beer drinkers and novices alike.  It’s crisp, tart, and radiates flavors of fresh Oregon blackberries. This year, Ecliptic is providing fans with an added treat---two barrel-aged versions of their UltraViolet Blackberry Sour Ale.

Starting July 13th Syrah and Rye barrel-aged varieties of UltraViolet will be released alongside the non-barrel aged beer.  The three beers will be available in 22oz bottles throughout the Ecliptic distribution network.  A limited amount of draft will also be found in Oregon and Washington.

About the beers:

UltraViolet Blackberry Sour Ale

UltraViolet is brewed with Oregon blackberries, soured in the brewhouse.  The result is a tart and crisp sour ale, with ripe blackberry flavors radiating throughout it like cosmic rays traversing the universe.

Syrah Barrel-Aged UltraViolet Blackberry Sour Ale

UltraViolet was tucked away in 6-year-old Syrah red wine barrels for 9 months.  The flavors of oak and ripe fruit meld with the sour blackberries for a delicious flavor.

Rye Barrel-Aged UltraViolet Blackberry Sour Ale

UltraViolet spent 10 months sleeping in 6-year-old rye whiskey barrels, developing a profile of flavors reminiscent to a fine cocktail.
