Settled by Christian and Matilda Deardorff, in the mid-19th century, Happy Valley, Oregon, remains one of Clackamas County’s fastest growing communities. A mere 8 or so miles from Portland, this suburb is your typical escape from the city with its shopping centers, tons of grocery stores, and a mature night light. Maybe this is why Valley Growlers, conceived of by Ami and Brian Shannon, is opening a novel concept in food and beverage there.

WIth a scheduled opening of “this summer” [sic], Ami and Brian Shannon are introducing a multi-use concept featuring local drinks, food, and entertainment from some of the area’s well known restaurateurs.

Starting with Ranch PDX and Tamale Boy, one can expect Detroit-style pies featuring familiar toppings and that trademark crust that is so indicative of Detroit-style. Paired alongside Ranch PDX, Tamale Boy focuses on, naturally, tamales with traditional recipes and enchiladas, posoles, and mole, and burritos. Following this duo, the ownership has conceived of and will open a high-end restaurant for sit down dining, and a craft whiskey lounge lovingly called the Whiskey Barrel Lounge. With each location, a unified concept of offering some of the most innovative brunches in Happy Valley - Bloody Mary and Mimosas included (of course).

“Brian and I envision the destination being somewhere Happy Valley residents can gather to enjoy the Portland vibe of their favorite restaurants, beverages, and entertainment without the Portland traffic or crowds, and all under one roof,” says co-founder Ami Shannon. “We’re excited to provide the great beers, ciders, wines, and cocktails that have made Valley Growlers a community favorite since 2013, but we need our community’s help to make it happen. That’s why we’re launching an IndieGoGo — we want the community to be a part of this, from the ground up.”

About Ranch PDX

Ranch PDX, founded by Richard Corey and Eric Wood, began in 2017 as a delivery only pop-up serving their unique pan pizzas to tap rooms in SE Portland via bike and on foot. The pizza quickly became a hit and Ranch now has two brick and mortar locations in Portland, one in Woodlawn in NE and one in Knob Hill in NW. Ranch is known for their crunchy, fluffy, pan pies with a Detroit style crispy cheese crust and classic, high quality toppings, all served with their delicious house-made ranch dressing. Ranch is very excited to be a part of the Valley Public House and bring some delicious new pizza to Happy Valley.”
